This article should blow your mind but I suspect it won’t. It’s another example that Disaffection often begins with hope, followed by expectations. When decisions are made to determine the outcome of elections and reality doesn’t match voter expectations, skepticism sets in.
This recent article out of Ohio shows how that shift happens in real time.
Ohio lawmakers eliminated the absentee ballot grace period based on expected outcomes by a Supreme Court ruling. It didn’t play out that way. The Supreme Court ruled opposite of the lawmakers decision.
But the decision had already been made because it was a rush to determine an election outcome. And with that decision, the impact had already been felt.
This isn’t about party. It’s about process.
Skepticism takes root when:
1. Decisions come before clarity.
2. Justifications don’t match outcomes.
3. Processes are politically motivated.
Trust begins to quietly erode, even while people are still paying attention. And once skepticism sets in, disaffection is never far behind.
I talk extensively about this in my book “Disaffected!” Purchase Disaffected on Amazon (https://t.co/uatmDPD1xg) or from anywhere books are sold and join the conversation.
