MATURE / NON MATURE COUNTRIES.

Canada had banned Ugandans entering or anybody who has been to Uganda until the 28th August but just extended to 28 September.

Of course we can say it’s their country,
their rules! But they won’t do that to mature countries including Kenya in our neighborhood.

Visa and travel advisories are none trade tariff barriers, if I restrict you from traveling, am restricting you from seeing opportunities and taking advantages of them.

For you to survive, you will either borrow or be given AID especially if you are a none mature country like uganda. So no sensible Ugandan should celebrate this.

WHATS A MATURE COUNTRY?

- A mature country has massive international interests in terms of investments.

- The moment say Canada wants to restrict Kenya, Canadians invested in Kenya fight back on behave of Kenya for example.

- Kenya for example hosts many international organizations, hosts over 80 chains of international hotels and those represent international interests, citizen and of those countries have shares on those businesses. Banning Kenya means banning their own interests.

- America will have 43,000 gun related deaths but millions will be fighting for visas to the United States because of interests, people will fight for opportunities regardless.

- Uganda will have 2 foreign people die and most rich countries will black list us for years because they don’t have massive money or investment interests.

- I always give examples of Egypt and Libya which had uprising about the same time and Libya never recovered, Egypt quickly recovered quickly mainly because of interests. Massive international investments in sectors like tourism. Same as Tunisia!

Uganda’s first Uganda Connect Hub in Serbia, opened by H.E. @KagutaMuseveni, was conceived as more than a promotional space. It was a practical way of putting Uganda in the market, visible to buyers, investors, tourists and partners.

Today, Serbia has four Uganda Connect Hubs, and the country has increasingly become a gateway for Uganda into the wider Balkan region.

These hubs serve as market and information platforms: showcasing Ugandan products, connecting businesses with potential buyers, promoting investment opportunities, and telling the wider story of Uganda, including our magnificent tourism destinations.

The impact is increasingly visible in trade. In May last year, Uganda shipped its first consignment of locally roasted coffee to Serbia. The market has also received Ugandan shea butter, fruits and vegetables, vanilla, leather and crafts, Uganda Waragi, among other products.

This is the thinking behind Uganda Connect: presence creates visibility, visibility creates connections, and connections can create trade.

Uganda must continue putting its products and its story directly in front of the world.

If there is a case on anyone, let it be brought before a competent court and tried fairly and impartially. Both the arrest and the treatment of a presumed offender should follow the law, be humane not humiliating and give the constitution, the people and God the dignity and humanness one deserves. Let the evidence be tested. Matthew Bagonza can defend himself and the institution he works for. And let the law take its course.

On the second matter, I want to be equally clear. PACEID is operational and PACEID is lawful and reports to H.E. the President and all our quarterly and annual reports are consistent on what we have achieved and the ideas we have brought forward for our country, its entrepreneurs and exports sector.

We were commissioned on 16 March 2022. Institutions begin through a process and, if a mandate is ever changed, that too must happen through a due process. An anonymous message on social media is not that process.

We encourage all International partners, those who hold export orders, our global trade representatives in several countries, our logistics partners, those financing value chains in the 13 products, to have peace and keep all due activities as usual
