Founder of Pixel Shade and lead developer of Unsung - a fable themed 2D adventure game. Left the site when Musk bought twitter. You can find me on Mastodon.
After years of inactivity on X I wanted to let people know that I am off for good. Nothing good will ever come from Muskism and his technocracy and It's about time that we all left this place.
My profile now acts as my twitter "obituary"

@larc_b840 @baldursgate3 You know, we use pronouns to describe gender. It's not like they haven't existed for millennia.๐คฆAllowing people to choose doesn't hurt anyone.
@unity Whatever trust people had in Unity is now lost. The damage caused is irreparable as long as Riccitiello remain in management. You cannot trust a company that jeopardizes our lively hood on a whim while also disrespectfully calling us "fuckin' idiots" for not monetizing our games
@Brick_Nash yeah, I totally get that... If you would like to go that route, let me know and I could at least prepare the graphics for you in amiga iff format.
@Brick_Nash The background is quite perfectly suited to be composed out gradients (single color swaps using the copper) as well as sprites and repeating sprites. That way only character, items and the train will use the blitter. But I bet you don't have that kind of freedom? :)
@Brick_Nash With that being said, I would probably go much further with color optimizations if I did this for real. I'm just doing it for fun, so don't get me wrong, I respect your decision of sticking close with the original gfx. ๐
@Brick_Nash I had another go at it! Can't work miracles when the palette was made for 32 colors and not 16.๐ But still.
The benefit over the A500 version; Characters retain ALL shades-, while levels has most shades intact. Looks rather cohesive. Drawbacks? the obvious lack of color diversity
@Brick_Nash Thank you! I always went to sprite resources before, but this site is REALLY good. Yeah, I can tell they did some pretty substantial memory optimizations. Compared to the Arcade artwork a lot of details are missing, and they have also added a lot of tiled patterns as well.
@Brick_Nash I tried making the current 16-color palette work for a background as well... (couldn't find one from the original arcade game) But yeah, unless someone is doing "Final Fight Mexico", I still have some work to do on that palette. :D
@Brick_Nash No worries! I know it isn't as easy as drag 'n drop when working with the constraints of the A500. For me, I get satisfaction knowing that Arcade-perfect gfx could've been achieved back then. The palette still needs to be revised, but I am still happy how it turned out! :)
@Brick_Nash Awesome work @Brick_Nash! If you are ever looking into remastering the graphics, let me know. I made this a while back. The palette is compatible with A500. :) I had to take some liberties as you can probably tell, but still, it's a good showing for the A500.
@Dachsjaeger@SonySantaMonica@JetpackInt Any reason to selectively exclude FSR? I mean, It's REALLY weird for a tech deep dive of this caliber. Today DF comes across as an nvidia marketing partner rather than an independent media outlet. Mainly due to how much screen time-, mentioning- and uncritical praise nvidia gets.
@Dachsjaeger One thing I am curious about with DLSS 2.0 is actually how much AI is involved these days. To me it seems more like temporal reconstruction technique applied on engine level using motion vectors (similar to how codecs work). With other words; no deep learning, no AI. am I wrong?
@PC98_Audi@albertpenello@dark1x Oh, man. What a shame. I got my hopes up since I remember them sanctioning licensing to Street Fighter X Mega Man. But then again that was a indie game of its own, and not a port of an actual Capcom game... I just don't want their lawyers banging on the doors ๐
@albertpenello@dark1x@PC98_Audi Absolute worst case we can do our part and make the GFX engine available (no capcom code), allowing the development community to pick up on the reverse-engineering... HOWEVER, neoman has already started, due to his own curiosity and the immense interest in the project :)
@gidss@StreetFighter@VivaAmiga@AmigaL0ve @AmigaScreens Thank you so much. Such a shame I can't retire yet, and spend the rest of my days making the Amiga community happy. :) I would have love seeing more ports. Heck even new games for the Amiga. I would love to make a modern sci-fi adventure, with impeccable graphics/music etc. :)
