I've been thinking lately about the countless activists during the Civil Rights era who fought for the Voting Rights Act — including my friend Mickey.
He was my protector. I want to share a little bit more about what he meant to me.
@ExtraTH61688879@TexanJacobite@JessicaValenti Who said I was miserable? I love my single child free existence! And the science is finally catching up to us being the happiest population of Americans around!
@listenJimGreene@luvmyjaide@historyKehoe@coder_baddest@YourAnonNews Abortion is defined as the intentional termination of a human pregnancy everywhere I look. The Florida bill defines an abortion in precisely those words, and until recently medicine referred to the use of "therapeutic abortions" as well.
@listenJimGreene@luvmyjaide@historyKehoe@coder_baddest@YourAnonNews A word that's not overly complicated and easy to access as well as understand. "Therapeutic abortion" worked just fine for ectopic pregnancies, and probably still does, but now any association with the word is becoming verboten.
@luvmyjaide@historyKehoe@coder_baddest@YourAnonNews Accusations of arguing in bad faith are pretty rich coming from someone who can't answer a direct query.
Got any idea yet on how to refer to the termination of a non viable and dangerously implanted embryo?🤨
@TexanJacobite@JessicaValenti Guess the thousands of everyday women commenting on the dismal midlife outcomes of marrying ultra conservative men at a young age are all just full of it.
@JoelSchamber@YourAnonNews No. It's sweeping bans of standard healthcare procedures that are killing women. The Florida ban defines any termination of a human pregnancy as abortion. Cuz it is. Treating an ectopic pregnancy is simply a therapeutic abortion.
@SarahSorensongs@MayaRose601@emiliepfrank The Florida law explicitly defines all terminated human pregnancies as abortion. Because they are. Treating one that's ectopic is simply a "therapeutic abortion".
@luvmyjaide@YourAnonNews So then how do you refer to the termination of a rapidly multiplying fertilized embryo that's been implanted outside of the uterus?
@televisualities It really does! So happy my mom finally gave in to her natural beautiful silver. She had a lot of identity invested in being a redhead though lol!
@televisualities I'm sure it is. I just have a special distaste for all the ways the process of giving birth gets rushed and forced into a cookie cutter shape. It's insulting.
@luvmyjaide@YourAnonNews If that's your honest perspective, then why are you and people like you pushing so hard for fetal personhood laws, and the abortion bans accompanying them, to begin at fertilization?
@YourAnonNews And now they're pretending that treating an ectopic pregnancy, a medical procedure that does indeed terminate a dangerously placed pregnancy, is NOT actually an abortion. While, in the same breath, pushing for fetal personhood laws to begin at fertilization.
