on alhaithams first birthday since his grandma passed, he expects to spend the day alone. which is… fine. sure, nobody will be cooking him his favourite meal as he reads quietly at the table, and maybe the silence will feel a little louder today. but it’s fine, he’ll manage.
so he spends this birthday, to his surprise, celebrating with kaveh. he’s gifted a rare book he once mentioned in passing to be interested in, and they eat food from a stall that 𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 tastes like grandmas cooking.
the following year the silence almost kills him.
his thoughts are interrupted by a fast, excited, knocking, and when he opens the door, kaveh is there, bouncing on his feet, with a bright smile on his face and a delicately wrapped package cradled in his hands.
alhaithams arm moves to cradle kavehs cheek as the other slips to the back of his neck, tilting his face up, and crashing their lips together. under his palms, alhaitham feels as all the fight instantly leaves kavehs body and he melts into the kiss.
kaveh being impulsive during an argument and pulling alhaitham into a kiss by his shirt, but as soon as his brain catches up to his actions, he’s stumbling back and stammering apologies.
alhaitham, wide eyed, reacts faster than kaveh can escape, and pulls him in again.
