No civilian should die in wars. Our approach is that every life is as precious as our own. We jealously guard our non-aligned policy while ensuring that humanitarian values and the saving of lives remain our top priority.
What the world urgently needs today is peace. There is a real risk of a severe global economic crisis, and entire societies are facing serious and complex challenges.
We call upon all parties to demonstrate a firm commitment to peace. As a state, Sri Lanka stands ready to support every step toward ending hostilities. All our actions are aimed at saving lives and ensuring that humanity prevails.
The world is at war.
Superpowers are clashing. Sides are being drawn. Nations are picking teams.
And Sri Lanka?
We just rescued sailors from two Iranian warships and opened Trincomalee harbor to let one dock safely.
No political calculus. No geopolitical posturing. Just humanity.
This is who we are.
A tiny island that has seen its own share of conflict, loss, and recovery and still chooses compassion first.
We welcome strangers. We help those in need. We offer shelter when the world offers chaos.
Hospitality isn't our industry.
It's our DNA.
In the early 1900s , travelers arriving at Colombo Port were greeted by the LARGEST NEON SIGN IN THE WORLD.
232 feet wide. 15-foot letters. Glowing across the harbor.
“CEYLON FOR GOOD TEA”
Before Dubai had skylines. Before Singapore had Marina Bay. Before Vegas had the Strip.
Sri Lanka had a world record welcoming ships from across the globe.
In 1942, it went dark. WWII reached the Indian Ocean. The sign was dismantled to avoid guiding enemy bombers.
It was never rebuilt.
Most Sri Lankans today don’t even know it existed.
But here’s what it tells me:
We’ve always known how to make a statement. We’ve always understood the power of a first impression. We’ve always punched above our weight on the world stage.
We just forgot.
Maybe it’s time to remember.

@Window2Willow@lfcadam@PopCrave Also, in making up these "levels", if level 1 is speeding and level(x) is rape/murder/war/genocide/etc, then by his own system level 1 is literally NOT "the worst", so... 🤷♀️🤭

Burning olive trees shows you clearly the colonial mentality of the Zionists..
Indigenous people don’t burn olive trees… they are sacred. my grandpa use to feel for it like one of his own children.
