1 ER tech for a 42 bed ER. So unsafe. Hospitals need to #paymore and offer incentives for folks to stay at the bedside. #SafeStaffingSavesLives

Techs help with lab draws, EKGs, patient transport, splints, and other things like toileting patients,etc. Techs often alert the nurse to changes in condition when we're busy with another patient. They are a necessary part of the care team.

@NurseRealityToo Which is our current process and isn't working. There are systems that exist where a nurse can push a duress button that shows their location on the unit for faster response times, but so far this hasn't been brought up (security in the dept has luckily)

@NurseRealityToo The idea is that instead of just screaming for help, we will have a loud noise that can either 1) deter the assailant 2) gather more staff to help. This is a stop gap I think, but currently we don't have security in the dept so somebody has to call them when we need help
