During 2023, Savannah achieved significant progress in enhancing our operational safety. There has been a substantial focus on the identification of specific training needs and the integration of external resources. This is designed to elevate the skill set of our workforce, ensuring a well-prepared and safety-conscious team. Savannah continued its strong health and safety record in 2023 with a zero Lost Time Injury (“LTI”) Rate per 200,000 working hours within its operations.
On 11 September 2023, Savannah achieved one million working hours without an LTI across our business operations in Nigeria. This was followed by the achievement, post-year end in May 2024, of two million working hours without an LTI across our business operations in Nigeria.

We are committed to the responsible stewardship of our assets and operation – both existing and those we seek to acquire in the future – by reducing our GHG emissions where possible and managing our other environmental aspects, such as impacts on biodiversity, freshwater use, waste and local air quality. In 2023, Savannah’s performance against key sustainability metrics, such as carbon intensity, remained industry leading.
Looking to the future, we have prepared a carbon and energy management plan detailing how we plan to minimise flaring at Stubb Creek, while we also plan to develop similar plans for our other operational assets. At the same time, we are also focused on the growth of our renewable energy business, investing in the development of large-scale hydroelectric, solar and wind power projects in Africa, where we currently have up to 696 MW of projects in motion.

We take this opportunity to thank our talented and dedicated people, and, at the same time, offer special thanks to all our stakeholders, including our host countries and communities, customers, suppliers, partners, and shareholders, for continuing to support our journey over the last 10 years and beyond.
We will remain unequivocally an “AND” company. We will seek to deliver strong performance, both for the short AND long-term, across multiple fronts. We are pursuing growth opportunities in both the hydrocarbon AND renewable energy areas. This approach permeates our entire business and how we have built and will continue to build our corporate infrastructure.
We are proud to be working closely with @DFCgov to support the development of renewable energy projects in Africa. Savannah’s 250 MW Parc Eolien de la Tarka project in Niger will be the country's first wind farm and is expected to be the largest in West Africa.

Accugas Limited, Savannah’s midstream subsidiary in Nigeria, was pleased to host Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, on a recent visit to our Uquo Central Processing Facility (“CPF”) in Akwa Ibom State.
The Honourable Minister of Power praised Savannah and our initiatives during his visit to the Uquo CPF: “We are calling on other companies to emulate the activities of Accugas so that the unreliable supply of gas that we have will be a thing of the past. They have been tried, they have been tested and they are trusted. One other thing I also noted is their investment in a new gas compressor to boost pressure for gas supplies. It is a significant investment. We really appreciate it, and we will continue to be partners."

Last week, we were honoured to host the newly-appointed Prefect of Vina, Mr Valery Norbert Kuela, at our Bini a Warak hybrid hydroelectric and solar project site, located in the Vina Department area of Adamawa Province in northern Cameroon.
The Prefect plays a vital role in advancing the socioeconomic growth of the Vina region and his visit highlights the importance of our project to the region and local communities. The Bini project is expected to be transformational, generating up to 95 MW of clean, stable and affordable power for Cameroon’s Northern region and increasing the region’s generation capacity by 50%.
This, in turn, is expected to support existing local electricity demand and enable energy-intensive industrial projects, helping to drive Cameroon’s economic development, as noted by His Excellency Paul Biya, President of Cameroon, in his New Year 2024 ‘Message to the Nation’.
(L - R) Jonathan Monthe Siewe, Project Development Manager, Savannah; Mr. Daouda, Ministry of Public Contracts; Mr. Biya, Director, CAMRAI; Mr. Valery Norbert Kuela, Prefect of Vina; Mr. Fabrice Yves Bissa, Subprefect of Nganha.
The visit began with a breakfast in honour of the Prefect of Vina, hosted by the Chief of Nganha, His Royal Highness, Saliou Saoumboum, leader of one of the local communities neighbouring the Bini project site.
Distinguished guests included the Mayor of Nganha, Mr Awalou Mouhamadou and other local government stakeholders, as well as Savannah representatives. Savannah provided an update regarding the significant progress made on the Bini project and reaffirmed the project’s potential to support the region's development.
This breakfast was followed by a tour of the local museum at the Chief’s palace, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the region.

The centrepiece of the visit was a formal event at the Tribune of Nganha - a special venue designed to host ceremonies welcoming regional dignitaries. As part of the ceremonial traditions, the Prefect of Vina was welcomed into his new role with music and dancing organised by the regional elites and local chiefs.
The event underscored the significance of the Prefect's role in representing the interests of the local communities and his focus on facilitating the socio-economic development of the region.
During this event, there were a number of notable speeches from local elites, village chiefs and the Prefect himself, who spoke about his plans to improve the economic and social conditions of people in the Vina Department.

After the ceremony, the Prefect of Vina, the mayor, and other key stakeholders, were given an in-depth tour of the Bini a Warak project site by Savannah representatives, who also took the opportunity to discuss our plans to optimise the project.
The redesign, approved by Cameroon’s Minister of Water and Energy, His Excellency Gaston Eloundou Essomba, last December, boosts power generation to up to 95 MW, incorporating a 40 MW photovoltaic solar plant to complement the power generation from hydropower, and reduces the impact of the project’s development on the environment and local communities.
There is also the potential for power from the Bini project to be dispatched into Cameroon’s southern electricity grid. The Cameroon-Chad Interconnection Project, financed by the World Bank and scheduled for completion by 2026, will allow for the transmission of electricity between north and south. Savannah currently anticipates project sanction in 2026, with first power targeted in the 2028 to 2029 window.
(L - R) Jonathan Monthe Siewe, Project Development Manager, Savannah Energy, Mr. Valery Norbet Kuela, Prefect of the Vina, Arabi Djalal, Project Development Manager, Savannah Energy.
We were delighted to welcome Niger’s Minister of Energy, Her Excellency Professor Haoua Amadou, to Savannah’s Parc Eolien de la Tarka wind farm project, where we provided the Minister, local officials, and community representatives with a presentation on the project and a tour of the proposed wind farm site.
Located in the Tahoua Region of southern Niger, Parc Eolien de la Tarka will be the country’s first wind farm and is anticipated to be the largest in West Africa, with a total power generation capacity of up to 250 MW.
During the Minister’s visit, we detailed our plans for the project and outlined its transformative potential for Niger and its people. It is expected to produce up to 800 GWh of electricity per year, representing approximately 22% of Niger’s annual electricity demand, based on the country’s projected energy demand in 2026, which is expected to grow significantly between today and 2026.
The construction phase is expected to create over 500 jobs, while it has the potential to reduce the cost of electricity for Nigeriens and avoid an estimated 450,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. Project sanction is expected in 2025 and first power is targeted in 2027.
The Savannah Energy Education and Internship Training programme initiated in February 2023 is a collaboration between Accugas, Savannah’s midstream subsidiary in Nigeria, and the Inoyo Toro Foundation, a non-profit educational foundation based in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The programme, aimed at enhancing access to quality education in Akwa Ibom and Cross River States, includes the award of full university education scholarships to up to 50 students each year, with the first cohort of students selected in November last year.
On 15 and 16 August 2024, Savannah sponsored the second phase of a two-day leadership, mentorship, and career guidance session for all 50 undergraduates. The session, conducted by external facilitators, included interactive sessions and group discussions that focused on equipping students with essential leadership skills, personal branding strategies, and career development tools.
This is an example of how we are contributing to the development of our host communities in Nigeria, as part of Pillar 1 of our sustainability strategy, “Promoting Socio-economic Prosperity.” It is aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 1 – No Poverty, 4 – Quality Education, 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and 10 – Reduced Inequalities.
Savannah’s Renewable Energy Division currently has up to 696 MW of renewable energy projects in motion and is targeting up to 1 GW+ of projects in motion by end 2024. We have an ambitious pipeline of renewable energy projects under development in Africa with up to 2 GW+ of renewable energy projects planned by end 2026.
