.@cjsnowdon is right to question the case for a blanket ban on gambling advertising.
As he points out, the House of Lords committee itself acknowledges the difficulty of establishing a causal link between advertising and gambling harm, while the Government’s 2023 White Paper found little evidence of a causal link with gambling harms or gambling disorder.
As BGC CEO Grainne Hurst said:
“A blanket advertising ban would remove a key competitive advantage of being licensed and regulated while doing nothing to stop illegal operators targeting British consumers.”
Policy should be proportionate and evidence-led.

@GR_APPG The report says "Great Britain now has a stronger evidence base than comparable international jurisdictions on the link between gambling advertising and gambling harm". Where can I find details of this evidence please?
