@cjjarrett From a motiv. psychology standpoint there's no such thing as a bad emotion, and basic emotions like sadness, happiness, and anger are overall adaptive for our ability to cope and survive. Adds an interesting perspective for this book as a whole!
Even if I'm not into that genre or music as much, Le Tigre and their mission is important to feminism and understanding both freedom and visibility #wgs499bsu
I have to admit that I wasn't a fan of Le Tigre's music at the beginning, but they grew on me throughout the documentary. I especially liked "Viz" and the surrounding discussion on gender presentation/identity #wgs499bsu
@cjjarrett I think that discussion is really important as long as it's done in a conscientious way, but as the book mentioned the media often doesn't do that well #wgs499bsu
This reading brought up a lot of really good considerations for the next bit of my life, my only critique that I have is that as a 2nd semester sr. I have some limitations on career-building actions. I did appreciate the self-reflection questions! #wgs499BSU
@cjjarrett With difficulty π₯΄ I think it's important to have a support system that encourages letting go of unnecessary guilt since it's a difficult goal to take on solo #wgs499bsu
@cjjarrett My definition definitely used to focus solely on women's issues, and it's grown now to include nearly every social issue. Women's issues are human issues, and human issues are women's issues #wgs499bsu
@cjjarrett The decision as a woman not to have kids feels revolutionary; I think it's an issue of equality bc it's an expectation placed on women (childbirth and family maintenance) and men don't have a similar responsibility of that magnitude placed on them #wgs499bsu
@cjjarrett I had a vague idea of who she was but I had never heard the full story. It's kind of horrifying how many similarities there are between their stories considering the time gap; horrifying, but not overly surprising.
@cjjarrett Yes, I thought it was so interesting that someone dubbed Phyllis Schlafly a feminist considering all her public opinions and conservative activism. Loved the show! #wgs499bsu
This project taught me how important agriculture is to Mexican culture, and I was surprised how much of the country still uses traditional methods of farming as opposed to more modern. #intwmn
Googling international artists took a lot more effort than researching artists from US/UK/Canada, the issue of accessibility really impacts my listening preferences #INTWMN
One of the most important points I got from this book was the fact that we need to consider the voices of energy workers, both renewable and fossil fuel, in order to understand the best way to transition to completely renewable energy. #intwmn
@Gail05648911 I agree, I think it's easy to demonize workers in the fossil fuel industry when we think about them as one big unit as opposed to individual people with families and responsibilities.
