A new @HRW "report" backs regime propaganda following meeting with Kinshasa authorities
Human Rights Watch just released a new "report" following a visit paid to Kinshasa authorities last month.
The HRW delegation included its Executive Director, Philippe Bolopion @Bolopion, and its main reporter on the Great Lakes, Clémentine de Montjoye @demontcl.
Bolopion and Montjoye had in-person meetings with the #DRC Prime Minister Judith Siminwa, and the #DRC Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Guy Kabombo Muadiamvita.
During the same visit to Kinshasa, Clementine de Montjoye was seen in a workshop organized by @ebuteli led by hate group @luchaRDC's founder @fredbauma90 (Fred Bauma), American academics @jasonkstearns (Jason K. Stearns) and @jdlzw (Joshua Z. Walker), and former Africa Director of the think-tank @CSIS, Mvemba Dizolele (@MvembaDizolele). All four have been documented to be Rwandophobic, for promoting anti-Tutsi xenophobia, as well as, for engaging in unethical research methods.
@Ebuteli, based in Kinshasa—where systematic and daily violations of freedom of speech, of press, and of human rights have been widely documented, where thousands of journalists and human rights activists have been killed, imprisoned or abducted, by the Tshisekedi regime—is a close collaborator of #DRC Communications Minister @PatrickMuyaya, known for having invested millions of U.S. dollars in an anti-AFC/M23, anti-Rwanda and anti-Tutsi war propaganda campaign.
Owing to the ongoing collaboration with the DRC regime, party to the ongoing conflict in eastern #DRC, and Ebuteli, @hrw and its "reports" are selective, unethical and thus lack any scientific credibility.

Today CEO of @RwandaMinesB Alice Uwase shared Rwanda’s mining capacity with a select group of American investors during the US-Africa investment forum on critical minerals. Specific focus was on Rwanda’s potential around the 3Ts with particular interest on Tungsten! Today, Rwanda is Africa’s leading producer of Tungsten, a strategic mineral critical for modern technology.
Twibuke Twiyubaka.
“Confronting historical responsibilities requires real courage, because it generates fierce opposition by those with a case to answer. You need a strong sense of humanity to see it through. President Macron, I want to commend you on both counts: courage and humanity.
You acknowledged that France could have stopped the genocide, but did not. In response, I described your words as something more valuable than an apology: namely, the truth. This door was first opened by President Nicolas Sarkozy, and I wish to commend him today.
The Genocide against the Tutsi was foreseeable, and in fact foreseen, and France was in a unique position to observe and to act. It took too long for France to come to terms with its role, causing additional pain. And on some points, we still have not found consensus. I fully understand the feelings of those survivors and advocates, who remain dissatisfied with the official record. But I believe that our common work has initiated a journey towards truth, which is irreversible.
And France was not alone in falling short, far from it. Many other countries did so as well, but none has gone as far as France in setting the record straight and accepting its part in the tragedy.” President Kagame | Inauguration of Monument in Paris honouring the victims of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi.

Why does Rwanda keep investing in global sporting events like @theBAL? Because, as President Kagame explains, the strategy has already been tested. The proof of concept exists.

On April 15, Ambassador GAO Wenqi paid a courtesy call on General MK Mubarakh, the Chief of Defence Staff of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF). During the meeting, both sides reached consensus on deepening mutual trust between two countries, strengthening exchanges and cooperation between their respective defense forces, and jointly advancing the comprehensive strategic partnership.
As we mark Kwibuka, we honor the victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi and reflect on its unspeakable horrors. The United States stands with Rwanda in unity and reconciliation and firmly rejects denial or minimization of the genocide.
32nd Commemoration of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda (Kwibuka32).
On the 32nd anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda (#Kwibuka32), the Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security of the African Union (AU) Commission in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda in Ethiopia and Permanent Mission to the AU, will commemorate the1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, under the theme: “Remember-Unite- Renew, on 7 April 2026, at the African Union Headquarters, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The annual commemoration aims to continuously awaken greater awareness of the African people and the international community about the value of life and humanity and to renew collective commitment to protect and uphold fundamental human rights. Mostly, the event will provide an opportunity to remember the atrocities brought by the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi in Rwanda; unite together in our fight against genocide, its ideology, hate speech and other crimes against humanity; and to renew our resolve to ensure that Genocide does not happen ever again.
Representatives from the AU Member States, the AU Commission, Members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the AU, AU Organs, Religious Institutions, Human Rights Institutions, Intergovernmental and Civil Society Organizations, UN Agencies, Think Tanks, International Organizations, Academic Institutions in Ethiopia, as well as, representatives of the media will attend the event, which will be marked by a series of activities, such as, the 32nd Commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, which will also include Walk to Remember, lighting of the Flame of Remembrance, launch of the AU Human Rights Virtual Memorial: introduction of the component of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tusti in Rwanda and messages of reflection from AU officials and invited guests, among others.
The AU has been commemorating this catastrophic event since 07 April 2010. This year marks the 32nd commemoration of those dark days, an important occasion to remember the lives lost, show solidarity with survivors and unite to ensure it never happens again – in Rwanda or elsewhere in Africa and beyond. It is also a chance to learn about Rwanda’s story of reconciliation, conflict resolution mechanisms, nation building and home grown solutions.

Rwanda has consistently maintained that the long-term deployment of our security forces in joint counterterrorism operations in Mozambique requires a sustainable financing framework. Having so far shouldered the bulk of the financial burden of these operations, a transition to more equitable funding is a strategic necessity.
This common-sense position is a matter of public record and is unrelated to news reports from anonymous sources to @LeMonde’s @Phjacque in Brussels, where opposition to Rwanda's security cooperation with Mozambique has never been quiet, or from @WSJ’s @NicholasBariyo’s baseless speculations and unethical reporting.
Bariyo – it is also a matter of public record that a Rwandan delegation was in Washington DC in March for scheduled meetings at the State Department in the context of the ongoing Washington Peace Agreement, a statement was issued after these meetings. No comments of the sort you mention, in one of several hallucinations you report, were uttered by our ambassador to the U.S.
Rwanda has not and will not seek additional funds from the European Peace Facility, that is a matter for Mozambique. Rwanda's deployment requires sustainable financing, and it is up to the host government and its partners with major investments in Cabo Delgado to provide for that, as it has always been. Otherwise, Rwanda is satisfied to have been able to contribute together with our Mozambican allies in defeating the terrorists, securing the residents of Cabo Delgado and allowing for investments to roll out.
Both the @WSJ and @LeMonde also get the numbers wrong. Current personnel numbers stand at over 6,300—significantly higher than the initial 2,000 deployed in 2021. This increase was a direct response to the expanded scope of operations and the necessity of filling the security vacuum left by the withdrawal of the SADC Mission in Mozambique (SAMIM) in 2024.
The bottom line is: ISIS attacks mainly victimized Mozambican civilians, and they have been the biggest beneficiaries of the joint security mission, having returned to their homes and resumed their lives. The gas investments benefit European and global energy security/interests, not Rwanda's – Rwandan forces are present in Cabo Delgado in response to the request of the Government of Mozambique for support.
#Sport Kigali hosted a major regional boxing tournament this weekend. In the women's division, Daniella Muleketsi Nsii of the Democratic Republic of Congo defeated Uganda’s Martha Akinyi with a fourth-round knockout.
🥊 A Congolese boxer won a fight
in Rwanda. She was welcomed. She was protected.
She was celebrated. Now ask yourself one question —
could a Rwandan athlete be welcomed in Kinshasa today?
You already know the answer.
