Every tradition was once a novelty. Then it became culture. For something to be tradition it doesn’t need to be a million years old. It just has to be old enough.

There was no Christmas tree 500 years ago.
Now it’s Christmas tradition.

There was no crucifix before 300 AD.
Now it’s church iconography.

There was no honeymoon 150 years ago.
Now it’s marriage tradition.

There was no Halloween 200 years ago.
Now it’s American tradition.
