Years ago I wanted a place to scroll through all Japanese Pokémon cards, see a card's artist and learn what other artwork they've made. I wanted it so badly that I've spent hundreds of hours learning development making it happen slowly on weeknights and weekends…
Marill, Appearing In Pokemon Gold And Silver, Becomes A Card!
This is big news! It seems that several Pokémon will be made into cards ahead of time. What abilities will they have? What attacks will they use? Find out this summer!
"Umbreon at Night." The point of view has moved to the opposite side of the roof from "Umbreon in the Afternoon." I can't believe I would do something so arduous. (Laughs) This has gone from the bright, modern image of the town itself in the afternoon, to a Gothic atmosphere. Because of the balance between Umbreon's red eyes and the yellow patterns on its fur, I've made the moon not white, not yellow, but vermilion. Since I was fortunate enough to draw two illustrations, I'm glad I was able to draw one standard-style as well as one drawing that has a feeling of everyday life. These two illustrations are also popular with Umbreon fans.
I refer to this illustration as "Umbreon in the Afternoon." I had specs for the setting that there should be a city in the background, but I even drew people down in the plaza. If you look closely, you can see that this was drawn all in one go with a calligraphy pen. It amazes me. I don't think I could draw something like this all in one go anymore. (Laughs) This is something that could only be done in the Pokémon Card Game. I tried to draw Umbreon in a way that I didn't think anyone else would, napping in the sun, for all the Umbreon fans out there.
