Updated Long Range Forecast for the Southwest Monsoon Seasonal Rainfall during June–September, 2026 and Monthly Rainfall and Temperature Outlook for June 2026

✴️Quantitatively, the southwest monsoon seasonal rainfall over the country as a whole is likely to be 90% of the Long Period Average (LPA) with a model error of ±4%, indicating that below normal rainfall is most likely over the country as a whole during the monsoon season (June to September), 2026

✴️The southwest monsoon seasonal (June to September, 2026) rainfall is most likely to be normal over Northeast India (94-106% of LPA) and below normal over Central & South Peninsular India (<94% of LPA) and Northwest India (<92% of LPA).

✴️The southwest monsoon seasonal rainfall over the Monsoon Core Zone (MCZ) consisting of most of the rainfed agriculture areas in the country is most likely to be below normal (<94% of LPA).

✴️The average rainfall for the country as a whole during June 2026 is most likely to be below normal(<92% of LPA).

Clarification on some news reports on the “new look” of #Aadhaar

There are intermittent news reports and social media posts explaining how Aadhaar’s look may change by the end of this year to just a photo and a QR code, alone.

This is NOT CORRECT. There is no plan for any such changes.

Such news reports and social media posts are creating unwanted confusion in the minds of the people.

People in general are advised to ignore such reports and social media posts, and refer to official communication from UIDAI through its official social media handles and press releases issued through PIB. Media is also advised not to encourage such information.

VIDEO | Mumbai: Padma Shri awardee Endocrinologist Dr. Shashank Joshi (@AskDrShashank) lauds the advisory to regulate the use of GLP-1 (Weight Loss) Drugs in India and calls for integrating lifestyle measures and yoga with medical supervision from experts, to ensure these drugs are used in eligible populations with proper pharmacovigilance.

Dr. Shashank Joshi says, "GLP-1 receptor drugs have improved obesity and diabetes care, but must be used only under strict medical supervision. As per the Drug Controller General of India’s advisory, they should be prescribed only by endocrinologists, internal medicine physicians, or cardiologists. He urged patients to consult qualified experts, as these medicines require careful monitoring and pharmacovigilance due to possible side effects.”
