The Regional Fodder Station, Srinagar, organised a Farmers' Fair and Training Programme at Wangath Naranag, Ganderbal, in collaboration with the Division of Silviculture & Agroforestry, Faculty of Forestry, SKUAST-K. The programme focused on promoting improved fodder production practices and scientific fodder cultivation to enhance livestock productivity.
As part of the initiative, 50 progressive farmers were provided with fodder seed demonstration kits to encourage the adoption of improved fodder varieties and strengthen sustainable livestock farming.

*Week-Long EDP Training on Commercial Goat Farming Inaugurated at ABIC, ICAR-IGFRI, Jhansi*
A 6-day Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) Training-cum-Workshop on "Commercial Goat Farming: A Farm-to-Market Business Model" kicked off on 15 June at the Agri-Business Incubation Centre (ABIC), ICAR-Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute (IGFRI), Jhansi.
Organized under the NAIF (Component-II) project, the training program will run from June 15 to June 20, 2026, aiming to equip budding entrepreneurs with end-to-end business models in goat husbandry.
The inaugural function was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO), Jhansi. In his address, Dr. Singh emphasized the immense potential of goat farming as a highly profitable venture and briefed the participants on various lucrative government policies, subsidies, and schemes designed to help them successfully transition into entrepreneurs.
Earlier, Dr. P.K. Pathak, Course Director, formally welcomed the chief guest, PI, Co-PIs, Heads of Departments, and the trainees. He also provided a comprehensive overview of ABIC’s ongoing incubation activities and support systems.
Dr. Vijay Kumar Yadav, PI (NAIF), highlighted the strategic importance of goat farming in rural economies and shared invaluable practical tips for entrepreneurship development. Providing further insights into the structured week-long curriculum, Dr. Pooja Tamboli, Course Coordinator, briefed the gathering on the core program activities and technical sessions lined up for the trainees.
The inaugural session saw active participation from 22 registered trainees, alongside senior leadership and Heads of Divisions, including Dr. Awanindra Kumar Singh (Head ST), Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh (Head FMPHT) and Dr. Purushottam Sharma (Head PAR).
The inaugural program concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Rajiv Kumar Agrawal, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, experts, and participants for making the launch a success.

ABIC unit of ICAR-IGFRI, Jhansi organised Stakeholder Meet on 'Silage Production and Marketing Strategies' to Strengthen Bundelkhand Dairy Sector
The Agri-Business Incubation Centre (ABIC) of ICAR-Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute organized a Stakeholder Meet on “Silage Production and Marketing Strategies in Bundelkhand” to promote industry–farmer linkages and address fodder scarcity.
Inaugurating the programme, Dr. Pankaj Kaushal, institute Director, emphasized the adoption of IGFRI silage technologies for ensuring year-round quality fodder and improving milk productivity.
Technical sessions of the program covered BN Hybrid cultivation, pea-shell-based silage production, government subsidies for feed-processing units, mechanization, and sustainable business models for the silage industry.
A key outcome of the meet was the establishment of direct market linkages between farmers and Exceed Digital, the first IGFRI-ABIC incubated silage enterprise in Bundelkhand. Farmers agreed to supply maize and BN Hybrid as raw materials, creating a reliable supply chain and income opportunities.
Around 50 stakeholders, including farmers, Gaushala managers, industry representatives, and IGFRI scientists, participated in the programme. The event was coordinated by Dr. Prabha Kant Pathak and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Rajiv Kumar Agrawal.

माननीय प्रधानमंत्री श्री @narendramodi जी के आह्वान पर 1 जून से 30 जून तक पूरे देश में 'खेत बचाओ अभियान' चलाया जाएगा। इस अभियान के तहत कृषि वैज्ञानिक, कृषि विश्वविद्यालयों के विशेषज्ञ, कृषि विज्ञान केंद्र (KVK), केंद्र एवं राज्य सरकार के अधिकारी, जनप्रतिनिधि और प्रगतिशील किसान गाँव-गाँव जाकर किसानों को संतुलित खाद उपयोग, नकली पेस्टिसाइड की पहचान और वैज्ञानिक खेती की जानकारी देंगे।
आप सभी से आग्रह है कि इस अभियान से जुड़ें, वैज्ञानिक सलाह के अनुसार खाद का उपयोग करें और धीरे-धीरे प्राकृतिक खेती की ओर बढ़ें।

“Balanced Fertilizers Use” campaign of ICAR-IGFRI, Jhansi
MGMG teams comprising Dr Prabha Kant Pathak, Dr. Sangeeta and Dr. Kamini visited 'Simara' and 'Gevara' villages of Jhansi District and organized “Awareness Camps cum Kisan Gosthi” on Balanced Use of Fertilizers to improve the Soil Health. In the programme 43 farmers including 9 women farmers in Village Simara were present. In the “Gevara” village 25 farmers including 2 women farmers were present. The team briefed about the objective of the programme and emphasized on balanced use of fertilizers and creating business opportunities in “Balance Ration”, “Silage”, “Goat Farming” and ”Organic Fertilizer”. Dr Sangeeta emphasized “Green Manuring”, "Soil Health Card”, “Use of Balance Fertilizers” and “Fodder Production, and focused on various Agroforestry practices for enhanced farmers' income.
