@jamogolf@MonashCouncil Wonderful news - such an important facility. Thanks @jamogolf for all your hard work highlighting the importance of Oakleigh Golf course to the community.
@RobertTyreMarks @jamogolf Feels pretty genuine to me. Conflicting emotions of wanting to tell him to shove off but knowing we are expected to always be polite. Definitely a common occurence perpetrated by lots of “well meaning” male golfers! Evidence is “lived experience”!
@doug7au @jamogolf Mmmm - I have been a female taking up the game 🤣. I have complained, laughed it off, walked away, been polite to avoid a confrontation, made excuses for the perpetrator, told them I have a coach etc.. etc etc…
hey @Westpac I am just trying to talk to someone through telephone banking! I keep getting stuck in automated loops and directed to chat bots! What can I do?
@JoshFergeus @PeddleGraeme@B_JStenner I would again argue that a “trail” is not a valid comparison either but I am pleased that more work would be undertaken before any work is decision is made.
@JoshFergeus @PeddleGraeme@B_JStenner That data was totally inadequate comparing potential usage at Oakleigh to the number of visitors to the 127hectates on offer at Jells park, is not a reasonable data point.
@JoshFergeus @herewearewhy Again data is king - I would suspect that the Golfers at Oakleigh are much more diverse. They will more closely reflect the community in which the course sits.
@JoshFergeus Wow! Hopefully justification for any change will be based on a more thorough consideration of the options. I don’t envy councillors having to make decisions when this is the level of analysis. Will there be a more rigorous study?
@JoshFergeus No, the argument is there isn’t enough affordable PUBLIC golf but many parks in the area. A unique course offering all ages/abilities/genders/nationalities the opportunity to do something they love - and they can’t get that anywhere else! There are other parks available though!
@Llib7@jameswarfe How about the tennis clubs, the bowls clubs, the basketball stadiums, the footy fields, the kindergartens. I don’t use these…. Should they be open space?
@jamogolf @JoshFergeus I also note that Bowls for example has only 0.2% of participants with language other than English compared to 1.4% participation overall.
