Council’s own open space strategy says kids are more catered for than any other age group! Are older women only of value in our role as caregivers?

@JoshFergeus @herewearewhy Again data is king - I would suspect that the Golfers at Oakleigh are much more diverse. They will more closely reflect the community in which the course sits.

@JoshFergeus I would like to see more utilisation data for parks. I suspect - like golf there are periods of capacity and under utilisation too.

@JoshFergeus Wow! Hopefully justification for any change will be based on a more thorough consideration of the options. I don’t envy councillors having to make decisions when this is the level of analysis. Will there be a more rigorous study?

@JoshFergeus No, the argument is there isn’t enough affordable PUBLIC golf but many parks in the area. A unique course offering all ages/abilities/genders/nationalities the opportunity to do something they love - and they can’t get that anywhere else! There are other parks available though!

@totenviro Public golf - accessible to everyone. Also research says the biodiversity benefits of golf courses are much higher than urban parklands.
