“Father, how was it axes and plows that made this country? Didn’t we fight England for it?”
“We fought for Independence, son,” Father said. “But all the land our forefathers had was a little strip of country, here between the mountains and the ocean. All the way from here west was Indian country, and Spanish and French and English country. It was farmers that took all that country and made it America.”
Trump: "These people built the country. Whether it's fishermen or farmers... They built the country. I watch all these ingrates that came in that are always complaining. They didn't build anything."
America should establish a national pilgrimage route retracing Henry Knox’s 1775-76 expedition transporting artillery from Fort Ticonderoga to Boston during the Siege of Boston.
From Joseph Ellis’ biography of GW:
“This is one of several moments in Washington’s career when his decision not to act merits special recognition since another major engagement with Howe outside Philadelphia risked the existence of the Continental Army.
It also marks the moment when Washington, who had been struggling with the unpalatable idea for over a year, finally and fully accepted his Fabian role, emotionally as well as rationally, along with the recognition that it would be a protracted war in which the preservation of the Continental army was the priority.
These decisions, in turn, completed his transformation into a public figure whose personal convictions must be suppressed and rendered subordinate to his higher calling as an agent of history, which in this case meant that winning the war was more important than being himself.”
“Men who prioritize fatherhood may lose some sleep, gain some extra weight and enjoy less free time, but they can also discover a richer life with greater meaning, purpose and connection.” https://t.co/YPW9OekpoT
After the American defeat in Brooklyn during the Battle of Long Island in August 1776, Thomas Mifflin advised General Washington to retreat across the East River overnight to avoid further losses. Since the retreat was his suggestion, he volunteered his PA regiment to serve as the rear guard and be the last group to cross while the rest of the army evacuated.
Overnight, the Americans successfully evacuated 9,000 soldiers and averted disaster for the Continental Army.
In our Colorado for all, everyone can be who they are without being subject to hateful and ineffective conversion therapy. Conversion Therapy can be harmful, traumatizes kids, and is a scam to waste people's hard-earned money. To kick off Pride month, I signed a new law that provides Coloradans who have been subject to this dehumanizing treatment with the tools to heal and move on to live strong, healthy and authentic lives. I also took action to ensure that no taxpayer funds are wasted on these scams.
The anti-Christian government guys get real papal all the sudden when it comes to scripture, as if church officers have a monopoly on the interpretation of scripture.
