@PlainEnglishAus And yet, remember that Flesch created his formula to score texts for teaching which he assumed had the proper grammatical n logical features needed for understanding. Readability formulas work like a thermometer: the temperature of the text is far from enough for a diagnosis!
Plain language has #clearresults, as the US FDA recently found. Since translating a consumer reporting form in 2013, they’ve seen an increase in the number and quality of responses about pharmaceuticals, and a decrease in time to complete it.
