Becoming a truly youth-centred organisation starts with creating spaces where young people can connect, exchange experiences, and advocate for the issues that shape their futures.

Last Friday, @PlanRwanda’s Youth Advisory Panel (YAP) convened a ‘Youth-to-Youth Empowerment and Co-Creation Session’, bringing together a diverse cohort of young people, including Girls Takeover and Girls Get Equal campaign ambassadors, representatives from youth- and women-led organisations, and young female professionals.

The session offered a platform to share inspiring stories of the impact of programmes empowering young people. Participants also outlined recommendations to strengthen transformative partnerships and drive collective action through campaigns and spaces.

A driving licence for girls is more than a qualification. It is a pathway to expanding employment opportunities.

Through the sponsorship-funded Youth Economic Empowerment (YEE) programme in @NyaruguruDistr , 31 girls have gained permanent licences for cars 🚗 and motorbikes 🏍️. Huge congratulations to all the graduates! 👏

Menstrual hygiene is a fundamental right for every girl.

Through the “Girls Decide in Supportive and Protective Communities” project, 2,910 girls have acquired practical skills to make reusable sanitary pads - a critical step towards safe and dignified menstruation.

In partnership with @guidesrwanda, we have established three menstrual hygiene hubs working with 97 sexual and reproductive health and rights clubs across local communities in @NyaruguruDistr , @BugeseraDistr and @GatsiboDistrict. These hubs empower girls in three key ways:

✅ Build practical skills: Hands-on training in making reusable sanitary pads equips girls with sustainable, cost-effective solutions.
✅ Promote safe menstrual hygiene: Girls learn safe practices for using, washing, drying and storing their pads.
✅ Build confidence: Girls confidently challenge stigma and misconceptions surrounding menstruation.
