@gankacv@JamesKerLindsay@FedericaMog@JHahnEU@Huber62 To make long story short. #Macedonia had 3 referendums as independent state:
1991 about independence, successful
2004 about municipality borders, unsuccessful and
2018 about name-change, unsuccessful!
@OSCE_RFoM @VALERIEin140 @Cvetin OSCE was silent when TV stations and journalists in #Macedonia faced politically motivated CRIMINAL CHARGES that silenced them from reporting objectively on the illegal referendum for a name/identity change, but now it springs into action over a joke. Crazy!
#Macedonia media picking up on that Russian Foreign Ministry press release, which, yes, implies that Russia will block the Zaev - Tsipras deal at the UN SC if Zaev changes our constitution despite the failed referendum #funtimesahead
The failed referendum in #Macedonia was a clear and decisive victory of the #Macedonians by turning down the imposed name change. Democracy and fight for basic human rights had their say!
I can already see tweets from @timjudah1, @aqbyrne, @VALERIEin140 declaring a resounding success of the referendum and ignoring the turnout issue (just as they now ignore all the other abuses done in their little #Zaevistan)
@aqbyrne @VALERIEin140 For those who haven't muted me, Valerie was angry because I called her out for her attempt to spin the #Macedonia referendum results - a month before she did it - so now she's trying to get the OSCE on my case for a joke - https://t.co/FruktMD0YZ Such sore losers
The right in #Macedonia was accused of being murderers (of a child no less), killing a right wing journalist, staging a terror attack and dozens of other slanders too gruesome to repeat here. OSCE was happy to let this go by, but now demands civility?
#Bitola in #Macedonia is the second largest city in the country, historically known as Monastir or Manastır and often called the city of consuls during the Ottoman period, since many European countries had their consulates there.
Fortunately @usembassymkd doesn't represent American values just their own as members of the permanent state. The majority of Americans working at the embassy have a worldview that is not aligned w/the majority of Americans & they certainly do not follow Admin policy #Macedonia
OSCE-media was silent as critical TV stations and journalists in #Macedonia faced politically motivated criminal charges that effectively silenced them from reporting objectively in the name change referendum, but now it springs into action over a joke
The Government of #Macedonia abused every lever of power imaginable, and was given free hand from powerful international supporters, media freedom was trampled and OSCE stood silent, just as it ignored years of an extremely negative personal campaign by left wing media
In 2011, UMD opposed the then-VMRO-DPMNE-DUI idea for a #referendum on a name change, remained opposed to this day pushed by SDSM-DUI, and clearly Sunday's failure proved us correct in our analysis that #Macedonians will not accept a name change.
For 10 years, we have been sounding the alarm, since 2008 Bucharest Summit when #Greece vetoed #Macedonia's membership, that U.S., #NATO, #EU credibility is dwindling. You cannot force a nation to change their name to join an alliance of Allies.
