@TakeMeToTheGT I wouldn’t call it a backlash back then, specially not in the UK. Just amplified of what was already there. She still had hit after hit, Wembley sold out, the streets outside Hyde Park Hotel for Jonathan Ross were completely blocked by thousands of people waiting for her.
@_TOMI_TOMI_TOMI The awards are not about sales figures. They’re about the quality of the work. And nobody can claim that Confession II isn’t a brilliant piece of work.
@ronalddoee Doesn’t need to make noise. Just needs to be brilliant music and videos, which it was. Some of the best of her career. She deserves the praise and much more. Couldn’t care less how old she is. You make great music then you’re a great artist. Legend. The end.
@insidethegroove Some trivia: “Blond Ambition” was a term first used by a journalist to describe her in 1986. The brilliant quote is in the Who’s That Girl tour book: “The rightfull inheritor to the long vacant throne of Blonde Ambition. Long may she reign.” Madonna removed the “e”.
@insidethegroove Hmmm. I’m with you on this. I just can’t believe they would have given her permission for that particular song. So I really think there must have been some sort of loop hole where they could reuse the sample.
@insidethegroove Yes, it’s copyrighted, but anyone can do a cover version of a song, provided they credit the writers and pay royalties. Once a song has been released, you don’t need permission to cover it. Permission is only needed if you use an actual sample taken from the original recording.
@insidethegroove No, all 3 counted. The names were just marketing. All the CDs were made in the UK and released as UK releases. No further physical formats will count.
@SamCKx You’re taking 2+2 and making 5. The large majority of people on benefits are not paying any tax or National Insurance. So your calculations are very misguided. I’m not saying their policy idea is right or wrong, but it’s important not to spread false figures.
@krakianuk@DrownedMadonna It was six minutes exactly. I cut a bit of the video as the screen was just static with the same images of birthday messages.
