When I first ran for Congress, women in every state had the constitutional right to make decisions about their own bodies. That was settled law.
It isn't anymore.
States across this country have now banned or severely restricted abortion. Women are being forced to carry pregnancies that are killing them. Doctors are afraid to provide care.
I want to be clear about what this is. Itโs the same politicians banning abortion who have voted against paid family leave, against child care funding, against Medicaid, against food assistance. They don't care about children. They care about control.
Weโre fighting back on every front โ Congress, the courts, statehouses, and in the streets where movements are built and change is won.
Reproductive freedom isnโt up for debate. Itโs a right weโre going to restore. And weโre going to hold accountable every person who helped take it away.
The State of Washington is already seeing real-world impacts from sea-level rise, but Sen. Johnson of Wisconsin blocked a Senate resolution to simply recognize the problem. We cannot bury our heads in the sand with so much at risk.
