Why is @ponsdotfamily outperforming @TheIndexFi right now?

A while ago, $INDEX was the second-largest token on the Robinhood Chain after $CASHCAT, reaching a peak market cap of around $65M (or roughly $35M based on 5-minute candle closes).

The project is building RWA infrastructure, which aligns perfectly with Robinhood Chain's long-term vision.

Some other bullish facts:

- Robinhood CEO @vladtenev follows the project's X account - something very few ecosystem projects can claim.
- Token holders receive tokenized stock distributions through the protocol's dividend mechanism.

Sounds great.

Yet today $INDEX at only $11.6M MC, ranking just #6 on Robinhood Chain.

So what happened?

Here's my view.

Robinhood is ultimately an RWA chain, but today almost all of the attention and trading volume comes from non-RWA ecosystem tokens.

Why?

Because RWA is the long-term story.

It depends on the ecosystem maturing - more liquidity, more products, more institutions.

Right now, Robinhood Chain is very early for serious RWA capital.

Memecoins, on the other hand, are happening today.

In this environment, launchpads become some of the most valuable protocols.

And today PONS is clearly the dominant launchpad on Robinhood Chain.

But it's not just about having the best product.

It's also about the tokenomics.

80% of protocol fees are used to buy back and burn $PONS.
More than 21% of the total supply has already been burned, creating strong and persistent buying pressure.

As long as trading activity remains high, the flywheel keeps spinning:
More trading
More protocol fees
More buybacks
Lower supply
Higher $PONS price
More attention
Even more trading

So what about $INDEX?
It's fundamentally different.

It's focused on RWA infrastructure, not memecoin launches or speculative trading.

The protocol also uses part of its fees for buyback - but not of $INDEX.
Instead, it buys tokenized stocks that are distributed to $INDEX holders.

It's an interesting model.

But the problem is that it's not what the current market cares about.

Most Robinhood users today are degens chasing 10x–100x opportunities.
A modest dividend yield from tokenized stocks simply isn't what attracts capital in the current environment.

Conclusion

$PONS is benefiting from the narrative and aggressive buybacks right now.

$INDEX, on the other hand, is a longer-term bet on the future of RWA on Robinhood Chain.

However, it doesn't stop me from holding and accumulating $INDEX.

Markets often move on expectations before fundamentals fully materialize.
One major partnership, investment, integration, or product announcement could completely change sentiment - and potentially push $INDEX back above $PONS.
