10pm. already a thin layer of frost on elevated surfaces. THE coldest night of the year for us. done what i can. the rest is up to nature.

Egad! It's cold outside for subtropical Florida! I'm out to reinforce freeze cloths and lighting for sensitive plants. Forecast low:26.

@treesandshrubs going on 5 years: Bryophyllum daigremontianum. Thrives outside (and spreads!) despite total neglect. Indestructible plant.

gonna hit upper 20's in Tampa Bay tonite, all sensitive plants covered/sheltered. I should be fine. North of here..... winter crops may die.

bracing for anticipated freeze tomorrow. pulling potted veggies up to the house. too bad we had a warm Dec. The garden thinks it is Spring.

planted the Bolivian sunflower (Tithonia diversifolia) cuttings that I got from a garden-buddy. stick a cutting in the ground = new plant!

@herbgardens i hear you. i know i am a bit spoiled... year-round gardening is Central and South Florida's greatest asset, in my opinion.

I love cooking w/ homegrown herbs. rosemary, basil, sage right outside kitchen door **snip-snip** now in a tasty vegetable dish. yum :)

temp in the 50's. worked outside in bright moonlight for 2 hrs. mainly watering, then planting in the herb garden and wildflower patch. nice
