#LocalAI is not under attack because of the risks. It is under attack by the political echelon as a function of lobbying by the frontier AI companies to protect and consolidate their control of the market.
The 'local AI could cause uncontrolled cyberattacks' fear narrative that is being thrown around is just like that of the Democrats' fear narrative regarding the #CLARITYAct ...
Are you seeing it yet?!
Politics is a shell game where politicians claim to represent the many, but they really represent the few wealthy donors who lobby them. It's that simple.
@komal_uk01 To the point of literacy, yes.
But to study to the point of being able to build world-class scalable production-quality apps on your own... I would lean towards no...
I honestly donโt care at all that I spend 30 years of my life learning syntax and now that knowledge is essentially useless.
Frankly, Iโm relieved that I donโt need to care about it anymore. That stuff never really mattered anyways. Code was always just a means to an end.
All I care about is building products that users love. Now I can do that faster. That means I can have bigger impact.
If anything, software engineers should all be celebrating. I donโt understand why youโd โmournโ not needing to write code. The code was never the point.
@oskargroth funny - I also built that kind of app with opus 4.6 - it wasn't as nice-looking, but it was similar in feature set.
i'm working on a few projects now with opus 5.5 - and it's quite scary how good it is...
I think software development is cooked now. Totally and completely.
Mountain geographer Alton Byers of the University of Colorado Boulder has linked the disaster to climate change. He said permafrost, which has helped hold together high-altitude rock, ice, soil and glaciers for thousands of years, is weakening and becoming increasingly unstable.
However, Cook and Shugar have not established a direct link between global warming and the bedrock failure. While they believe permafrost is melting and may be contributing to the destabilisation of mountain slopes, they said further analysis is needed to determine the precise cause of the collapse.
I think AI will create a new category of technical debt:
Code nobody on the team truly understands because it was generated, reviewed quickly, and merged because it worked.
Six months later:
โWhy does this function exist?โ
Nobody knows.
New in Claude Code: your sessions can now message each other.
Instead of having to re-explain yourself in another session, you can now tell Claude to do it. It sends a summary (not your history or files), and the other session picks it up mid-task.
software engineering craftsmanship is dying in front of our eyes. writing beautiful code, a nicely crafted library, or designed framework do not matter anymore. there will be nobody that appreciates the code, nobody even understanding it. is the status quo now frozen or what is the incentive to go the extra mile to create the next beautiful library?

Jews are targeted disproportionately all over the world. The silence enabling it is disproportional, too.
