Working on big battleship cannons for my space game @PlayOmegaspace. Things will be able to blow up soon lol. Super excited for the upcoming demo hope y'all will play 🙈

What the fuck are you talking about. I've been writing code for 15 years and do it professionally and it's most definitely beyond "kinda" working. It's only going to get better.
What is with everyone acting like LLMs won't improve like the famously always don't
As an indie dev, honestly I tried Claude. God, it's shit. Just like Gen AI, it looks good on surface, and it "kinda" works. But trust me it's bad. Imo you can use it as a small tool for repetitive tasks, but that's it. Do not ask it to do everything for you.
@DP_LTS I dont like using the term 'deserve' because some people just prefer to write code by hand which is very respectable. But I do agree that it's getting to the last chopper out of Vietnam point
Most programmers I know are thrilled yet worried about AI programming. Most artists I see are straight up denying that it will replace them or that the "bubble will pop and LLMs will go away".
I really feel like a frog slowly being boiled in water here because I'm watching AI get better at taking people's jobs away and reducing the value of human effort and then we got boneheads that just wanna sit there and make fun of it for looking bad when in fact it's (1/2)
I hope y'all know I actually threw my hands up in the air and shouted "WTF?!" when I read OP's tweet. Like deadass we cannot possibly be in the same reality. "Good for repetitive tasks" brother I fully AI generated projects I'd get paid 5 figures for over months in days.
Because a lot of the times the argument is you could not do that. So you had to use AI. No I didn't, I chose to because it sped things up. What do you expect now? I go back and rewrite it manually from scratch to appease a small group of people?
Recently I showed someone something I AI generated after a day of work. They asked me why it had to be ai and why I couldn't just write it by hand. I told them I could absolutely have made it by hand, but I didn't want to.
Somehow that broke their brain.
There is no such thing as real programming. It's just programming. It always has been. People have always debated what a real programming language is. AI is just the latest way people debate it. It's either manually writing code by hand or by computer. Not real v fake.
I didn't realize it until now but it looks like Roblox is working on adding support for multiple SurfaceAppearances to operate under a single MeshPart, akin to having multiple materials on a single mesh in Blender.
It will be controlled by a new property called SurfaceSlot.
