As we get closer to The Merge, we should all take a moment to salute the 100+ people who had given their blood, sweat and tears to make this happen.
Ethereum's transition to PoS is a considerable feat of engineering, and a significant milestone in the history of crypto.
Ladies and gentlemen, here is a man who held and organized the famous "death of Eth" party.
He is one of us*, and always has been.
*people capable of thinking critically
it is a massive undertaking to switch the second biggest cryptocurrency from PoW to PoS mid-flight, and the fact that the eth community managed to fulfill this 8 year old commitment should make absolutely everyone happy
imagine being salty about this
@PeterMcCormack Because it's not a circular argument, it's a spiral argument. People with coins at time T secure the transactions at time T+1.
Spiral arguments and circular arguments sometimes look similar to untrained observers, but they are fundamentally different.
@0xfoobar Distribute 1st chunk of tokens to anyone that wants to buy them: Pre-mine
Mine 1st chunk of 1m+ coins by yourself before anyone gives a shit: Ideologically pure money
@pourteaux "their use should be discouraged in order to inspire and fund the development of like offerings built on the Bitcoin network"
Because that's how ideas and funding for great products arise, by existing in a vacuum devoid of other ideas. Proper Soviet style
what if โ and bear with me here โ what if we had a #bitcoin roadmap
โ 2024, covenants: stronger wallet security + a step towards future upgrades
โ 2026, zkp verification: trust-minimized sidechains, minimal cost to full nodes (w/ smart contracts)
โ 2029, privacy by default
Most common pitfalls I see when users getting setup ready for merge
- Unaware you need two clients (consensus & execution)
- Still on old port 8545
- Didn't authenticate jwt
- Forgot to set fee recipient
- Using a firewall, forgot to hole-punch for new port
Anything else?

Without his relentless retweeting I wouldn't be able to keep up with even half of what's happening in Ethereum.
Go follow him if you haven't yet!
Your occasional reminder that your twitter feed has no idea which way crypto prices will move in the short to medium term.
So don't take them too seriously.
