In our collective effort to establish lasting peace in Mangu Local Government Area and other communities in Plateau State, I convened a meeting with Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, and his team.

They conducted an assessment of the recent security breach in Mangu. Achieving lasting peace necessitates collaboration among the Army, government, community leaders, and security agencies. It is not solely the responsibility of the military; we must work together.

Enhancing the morale of troops is crucial, and as a government, we will persist in promoting unity across faiths and ethnicities to attain enduring peace in the state.

Our differences as a people is a testament to our diversity and not an ingredient for division.

The callous and brutal killings in Mangu defeats this and demeans us all.

It is timely to say that without unity, without a relentless dedication to stay united as a people, our lofty dreams of a great Plateau will stall.

I want to assure the people of Mangu local government that the government of Plateau state will do all it can to ensure that external aggressors are kept away. We will also deal decisively with criminal elements among us.

The 24-hour curfew that was earlier imposed on Mangu Local Government Area of the state, after due consultation with the security agencies is now to be observed from 4pm to 8:00 am daily until further notice.

I encourage the residents of Mangu Local Government Area to strictly observe the curfew and refrain from taking the law into their own hands and I urge the security personnel to enforce the curfew to avoid a breakdown of law and order.

Our primary focus was on the affected communities, aiming for swift and effective intervention. Our administration is steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of our citizens.

There will be justice for all those impacted by the recent incidents.

Today, I thank God Almighty for His grace and mercy in validating my victory in the March 8, 2023 elections by the Supreme Court. The people of Plateau State freely gave me their mandate and I will not let them down.

I also thank the Supreme Court of Nigeria for upholding the rule of law and the will of the people. Their Lordships have shown courage and integrity in delivering justice to the ordinary man in Nigeria.

I appreciate Mr President for his democratic leadership and his respect for the judiciary. He has proven that he is a true statesman and a champion of the people's votes.

I am grateful to the people of Plateau State for their unwavering support and trust. I also thank Nigerians and the international community for their solidarity and encouragement. Together, we will build a better Plateau State and a stronger Nigeria.

In an era where security and data are the keystones of progress, I am thrilled about the partnership initiated with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to enhance rural security, technical education, data processing, and strategic development planning.

As the Governor of Plateau state, my foremost commitment will always be the safety and well being of the citizens of the state. Through this collaboration with UNDP, we are reinforcing our resolve to create a secure environment that fosters growth and innovation.

Some deligent youths have been recruited across Local Government areas of the state to reinforce the state security outfit, Operation Rainbow and safeguard communities and their training is expected to begin next week. I am ready to leverage UNDP's expertise and international partnerships to drive development programs of the state.

Our partnership with UNDP will empower us to harness the immense potential of data for the betterment of our state, especially with the use of technology for security and peace-building efforts, including early warning systems.

Partnerships are the cornerstones of progress. Together with UNDP, we are not just strengthening security and data processing; we are fortifying the bonds of collaboration and cooperation. Our commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is unwavering, and this partnership will be instrumental in achieving them.
