Thank you for making this our most-watched #SummerGameFest yet!
This year's SGF showcase delivered 62 million livestreams, with double-digital growth across all key metrics.
(1/??) There is new Resident Evil Veronica news, interviews, & tidbits from various outlets, I'm going to summarize the most interesting details.
-Yoshiaki Hirabayashi is Veronica's producer, he held a Q&A, he confirmed Veronica is third-person only, & confirmed it's being made
In the original game, Claire infiltrates an Umbrella facility in Paris. Why does she appear to be in Chris's apartment in the remake?
Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi:
"One of the core principles behind the modern Resident Evil remakes is using the narrative to explore the characters in greater depth."
"We remember the original game's dramatic opening scene very well. But if you think about a young woman searching for her brother, it makes more sense that she would first go to his apartment rather than immediately break into the headquarters of an evil pharmaceutical corporation.
That said, it's important to remember that the footage shown so far comes from a trailer and does not necessarily represent the full story of the game."
RE Veronica producer Hirabayashi confirms the SGF trailer is a promo video and NOT a cutscene in the final game. He acknowledges CV had a dramatic opening in Umbrella's lab, but logically Claire would actually go to Chris' apartment first.

Hirabayashi on why they decided to remake CV after RE4R:
“When the team was asked what it wanted to explore next, the conversation gravitated back to the other person who “escaped racoon city with Leon”, Claire Redfield, and it wanted to return and tell her side of the story.”
In Resident Evil Veronica, players will discover more about who Claire is and her motivations.
Veronica Producer Hirabayashi says:
“You could probably imagine something like a mashup of RE2 game mechanics. It’s not like in the span of three months she became a government agent or anything, but her experiences haven’t left her the exact same person that she was in RE2.”
“Of course, there’s a lot more about her that we haven’t shared before that you can learn about her; there’s a lot more untold, and so yeah, the remake is definitely an opportunity to dive deeper into those aspects of her character.”
