@ChristosA89 @theodoresparta @HomerPavlos If the strategy is to invest all the resources in a few offspring is indeed a better context in some contexts but again like many things, it follows a stabilizing selection and depends largely on the context. Because universal fitness does not exist.

More children, less investment on each works until a point where it affects survival and reproductive fitness. The same rule applies to the other group.

Three more days later, it emerged into a butterfly, resting on my fingers, not because it recognized me, but because it was still unfolding its wings. It would remain still for hours, only to start the cycle once more.

In the past, I have reared butterflies from eggs, but some days back I found a caterpillar that I had not seen before.
I was not sure what its host plant was, what its adult stage would be like, or what stage of development it was currently in.
