@mronge@codebrewed Theres a gap in what an agent with access to your machine can do and what people outside of dev are currently doing.
I tell people all the time of what it can do for any kind of project, but they remain limited to web chat and think codex is a coding tool.
Hence rebranding.
@Samaytwt alfred is great but yea apple has some shit that is rotten to the core.
still the hardware / touchpad and general consistency of the OS + terminal..
@The_Guy_Space the real answer to this is elon was designing the tech so he can land a rocket on mars and then have it come back.
they dont have this scaffold on mars.
@The_Guy_Space was a an orbital rocket?
i understood the hard part is getting into position after orbital speeds.
blue origin didnt have a hard time landing their non-orbital rockets, the touch down wasnt necessarily the hard part.
@danaparish no way this guy should keep his license.
arrogant fuck. the fact that someone attempted to alert him, he shut it down, and the kid was found alive after is closer to manslaughter.
@thsottiaux If I understand correctly, besides rebranding the app, having the mode switcher basically means the harness and post training to a degree is optimized for the different workflows, which makes sense
You wouldn't want the same harness doing science research as coding.
@thsottiaux I support the direction you're going.
Too many normies have never touched codex for non coding projects and it's arguably more valuable for those broad applications.
@simonw Thus they add a layer for users to control the experience more while being able to drop a new model into these environments.
It makes sense. I would just trust that they did it for a reason.
Maybe we'll get a dynamic router for this down the line and ppl can complain again.
@simonw Who knows, they may make variants for scientific research, media editing, legal work, medical diagnoses, etc.
You cant get optimal results for all types of tasks at once. Coding will require a different approach versus analyzing a text and creating a slideshow.
@simonw At the end of the day, they train a big smart model and the post train it for certain tasks.
It makes sense in terms of agentic behavior to have a variant that is optimized for knowledge work, and a model optimized for coding work.
@nickbaumann_ the stutter like it crashed at the end is kinda awesome.
subtle motifs and aesthetics all around.
this is competitive and better than Fable in some ways.
theyre finally pushing the limit w UI and aesthetics
@benhylak Dang. I was actually hoping Codex would take the place of ChatGPT.
Two syllables versus four.
Obvious intention and implies usefulness beyond code, as in its a machine for solving problems.
Calling it ChatGPT is kinda lame and the weird half-step back keeping Codex in the title..
@Fynnderella1 You think its only from "vaccine shedding" some phenomenon you invented to suit your worldview while completely dismissing the hordes of people who got long covid well before the vaccines came out..
