You wouldn't want the same harness doing science research as coding.

Too many normies have never touched codex for non coding projects and it's arguably more valuable for those broad applications.

@simonw Thus they add a layer for users to control the experience more while being able to drop a new model into these environments.
It makes sense. I would just trust that they did it for a reason.
Maybe we'll get a dynamic router for this down the line and ppl can complain again.

@simonw Who knows, they may make variants for scientific research, media editing, legal work, medical diagnoses, etc.
You cant get optimal results for all types of tasks at once. Coding will require a different approach versus analyzing a text and creating a slideshow.

@simonw At the end of the day, they train a big smart model and the post train it for certain tasks.
It makes sense in terms of agentic behavior to have a variant that is optimized for knowledge work, and a model optimized for coding work.

Obvious intention and implies usefulness beyond code, as in its a machine for solving problems.
