That VAR audio is criminal.
Firstly you can hear them saying “is that enough contact” then they agree there are fouls from Trossard on Pablo and Rice on Mavropanos but show the ref the wrong angle who tells them to hurry up. The ref was absolutely desperate to disallow. Criminal
3 main points that have caused the outrage…
The Rice foul is happening way before any contact on Raya. So the chronological argument is flawed.
Arsenal have scored multiple goals this season from corners where similar offences have taken place unpunished, but in gameweek 36 the officials decided to punish.
VAR was supposed to be for clear and obvious errors and mistakes. Taking four and half minutes to watch the replay 30 odd times proves the decision was absolutely not obvious, hence the subjective interpretations by fans.
VAR has not improved the spectacle of the game, it’s made it worse. Used to be, ball hits net, check linesman and bang … raw emotion. Now it’s ball hits net and panic for five mins that your celebration was for nothing. Who wants that really?
