@DungeonDining Fatal? Flayed. (Lost a fight to a monster with flaying as an already-established MO.)
Non-fatal? Blinded by a dryad who forced branches into the character’s eyes.
Those happened in the same SotDL campaign...
@ToddKenreck I mean, hot take I guess, but everything that exists to balance magic in D&D against combat characters makes magic feel less magical. You have what magic is capable of in the DM’s hands (anything) and compare that to what characters can do (just what’s in the stat block).
@outerpanda “You’ve been monologuing with the villain for two hours, Spiel? When will Glock arrive to take him down?”
“Oh, I’m not Spiel.”
*cocks pistol*
@headfallsoff The entire central critique of these games is that you, the gamer, are being very easily directed into doing these things through nothing more than the fact that they’re programmed into the game and the promise of more content.
@itshannahflynn The only symbol I can think of is this mark of the Correspondence, {REDACTED FOR READER SAFETY}, which is variously translated as The Loving Unspooling of an Onion or The Scent of Old Books in a Secret Study.
@bongripbajwa666 I kid you not I just sought out Good Mourning and Sing the Sorrow to find out the answer to this exact question and I am happy to confirm the conclusions of this study.
@tabletopbellhop Sometimes I buy books from games that have themes I’m hoping to use in other systems, so I guess I’d say yes. I’ve read a lot of 7th Sea and don’t really plan to run it, but do want to incorporate more swashbuckling in other games.
@BoardGameBlitz We still play a variant of Arkham Horror where, if you kill a monster in one turn, you can then continue your move. It provides a little advantage to the heroes, but also keeps combat from becoming a drag.
Thought those over at @HABAGamesUSA would appreciate seeing a fan playing with a new game! We just opened Tidy Up today, and Charlotte is already in love. Get a good amount of use of all 4 games we bought at Gencon. She was the one who stopped by as Captain Marvel Saturday!
