If someone asks you to play a chicken, do it. 🐔
We acted out scenes from our manuscripts at a writers’ conference, and it was such a fun way to see our stories from a whole new perspective.
Also, if you ever need pointers on portraying a chicken, I’m here for you.
@DNicholsAuthor One did. I’m a pantser. Once the character grew on me, I realized his name didn’t fit. On occasion, I would find that I had mistakenly written the other name. Now, he is nothing but the new name.
@SusanSavageLee1 I participated in a theatre camp for a writing conference. We chose 2 short scenes from our work—one to perform online and one to act in person. The online session has already given me amazing insight for editing. Tomorrow night, we take the scenes to the stage. Super excited!
@nicholewinterss I can relate.😅 It’s so hard, but rejection can lead to the best writing group. You definitely want the right fit. Then you all grow together.
@SirArminius Initially, my first MG fantasy was written in third person. I met an editor at a writing conference who suggested I try it in first. Quite an undertaking! After the rewrite, I liked it better.
