FPLReview Elite 1000
Team ID #10642. 22/23 Rank: 23
Thanks for @FFScout_Joe for the inspiration to make the move. Seems like we're reaching critical mass ov movement in the last day or so. Hopefully it'll be a fun, cool place to discuss FPL for a bit.
Wrote something for the first time in forever on Solanke's surprisingly good xG numbers, and whether he should remain in consideration for those on wildcard this week (or for those already on him)

@misterdaniel_81 I'd be ok losing him, even with Ipswich on deck, but the move down to a Jimenez or Cunha would need to immediately unlock something else I think. Maybe TAA for Gabriel if he was ruled out. Getting up to Palmer from Foden etc

@misterdaniel_81 I think yes if it's just selling him to someone else. My prior position coming into the season is that he's a good player, the models like him, and his underlying data is fine (albeit as we noted in the post maybe inflated).
As a quick sense check for those considering keeping or adding Porro with an eye on those good fixtures, last season Spurs conceded 2.02 xGC without Van de Ven compared to 1.49 with him (not opponent adjusted so take with a pinch of salt)
@FplHedgehog @CrayfishFpl Review likes TAA and Bruno quite a bit more than Saka and, say, Konate, and it's basically the same price. But putting a lot of stock in Bruno right now feels not great, especially with uncertainty as to where he'd play under Amorin.
Tsimikas is 4.6m. We're not there yet but he could be unbelievable value if you could correctly time buying him before a potential run in the first team.
@FplHedgehog @CrayfishFpl He's still a very good pick for sure. I'm on WC10 and my team value is garbage so it's almost impossible to get midfield three of Palmer, Salah and Saka/Son AND TAA. If I keep Trent then Saka/Son would become I guess Bruno or Eze which potentially feels like a lot to lose.
@CrayfishFpl @FplHedgehog My team value stinks so TAA might be a sell for me, so Konate also hedges there a bit in case LIV do turn into a defensive force. Not too many other defenses have a ton of long term appeal but LIV's next 5 looks tough for clean sheets.
@CrayfishFpl @FplHedgehog Is Konate on people's radar? Nothing really there beyond clean sheets and hard to conclude just how good LIV's defense is just yet, but 1.0 and 0.9 xGC against CHE and ARS did catch my attention. Only gone over 1.0 xGC twice in 9 games, 5 games at 0.6 or less.
@FplHedgehog Yeh probably. I wouldn't have thought much of it but I've seen a few people now suggest a permanent change is coming. You're right though, seems hard to believe Robbo goes from starting ~95% of games to 5% rather than a slower change.
@luobronjames Team looks great. My team value is crappy so I can't quite get to that elite midfield five but otherwise we're on the same page. I'll have to have either Son or Saka and might even flip between them. Just trying to put together a cheap back five that rotates nicely.
I'm not entirely convinced this is anything, but as I've somehow drifted into WC10, I am digging into the weird little corners of the data this week. This isn't a new or unique point but something to maybe underline how bad (or not) Wolves have been defensively 1/
As a final comparison, Brentford are another side without a clean sheet this season, but Flekken and van den Berg continue to get attention. FWIW I am somewhat comfortable backing Frank to improve them defensively too, but the data here is a little worrying
Ait-Nouri posted two of his worst statistical games (0.0 and 0.1 xG+xA) when deployed in a back five, so moving back to a back 4 doesn't seem like a death knell either. The biggest issue is perhaps the 4 YC, but if on WC, you are presumably moving to a squad that can handle it.
