The Physical Learning Spaces Programme @ Cardiff University. A £41m 8 year programme to deliver innovative modern learning spaces across the University.
Many thanks to @MinofFurniture for the visit yesterday. Great to see a local company with great products together with the expertise in #recycling#repurposing old furniture giving it a new lease of life and addressing the #sustainability agenda.
Really enjoyed walking the client team from @plscu through some of the lecture theatres anticipated for delivery this summer. I finally got to use our Alienware and Oculus hardware!🙌
Looking forward to using more VR in the future -The possibilities are endless...@StrideTreglown
Another great use of Ty Dewi Sant lecture theatre with individual dual projections. Currently our only booth seating LT, but another will be delivered for the new academic year on the Cathays Campus. Watch this space.
Our ReThink Industry event was a great success! Featuring insights from Nathan Hurley at @Orangebox_LTD into ‘Igen’ students and the potential impact of this digitally engaged cohort entering the workplace. Read more here 👉 https://t.co/b2tMLyIp7l #ReThink#Event#SmartLearning
Thanks to @Orangebox_LTD + @bof_furniture for hosting the "How iGen’s educational experience will impact the workplace" event yesterday. Lots to take away from day. Food for thought going forward to our next design phases @cardiffuni
Many thanks to @karl_luke for nominating us for this year's Celebrating Excellence Awards for Exceptional Enhancement of Student Learning Experience. Honoured to be nominated let alone shortlisted. https://t.co/0xrKkXwlhx Onward to the next phase of refurbishments.
Great to have the opportunity to show @PresidentCSU @EducationCSU @WelfareCSU @HeathParkCSU @AUPresidentCSU around our most recent spaces in Glamorgan & Tower Buildings. Here we are in Glamorgan Building's new LT created by combining a classroom & kitchen.
Thanks to @CUSpecialColls for hunting down some fascinating items about @cardiffuni + @CardiffUniLib Construction of the library 2nd floor in Main, Law LT at opening, news of a massive building programme in 1959 & what the Uni footprint might have been.
Well done to @plscu for being announced as a finalist in the Celebrating Excellence Awards in the category "Exceptional Enhancement of the Student Learning Experience". Good luck! (N.B. the GIF is not representative of the great work you do, but thought you can relate!)
Just a few of the 40 learning spaces tackled by the programme this Summer. A challenging year but thanks to our partners @StrideTreglown@ianwilliamsltd#KnoxandWells @GVMultimedia @ReflexAV As Phase 9 goes through handover @plscu continue straight into Phase 10....
It's the critical Phase 9 time of year with final stages being reached across our multiple sites. New AV installation. Deliveries. Testing. Commissioning. Working hard to ensure our new learning spaces are all ready for the start of the academic year.
Phase 9 is our most comprehensive & complex ever. 6 different buildings. 40 separate spaces over 18 different floors. 2 contractors. 1 listed building. Everything including a kitchen sink! Nearly there for the new academic year.
Beautiful original architects' drawings of County Hall. No motorised transport in sight. Pre-contract estimate for what is now the Glamorgan Building in 1907: £45,000. Accepted tender cost: £51,542. Final cost: £67,724. Nothing changes....
Holey, holey, holey. The Summer holidays may have started but our holey-days are all done. Openings for new duct work + the entrance to the reconfigured LT in Tower Building. Thanks to #DenverDrilling on what was a tough job @StrideTreglown#KnoxandWells
