#ImpactFriday | Impact is Built Together
Real and lasting impact is never the work of one organisation alone.
Across Kenya's drylands, meaningful progress happens when communities, government, Parliament, civil society, development partners, and local leaders work together around a shared purpose.
At @DLCI_Kenya, we believe partnerships are more than collaboration; they are the foundation for securing community land rights, strengthening resilience, and creating lasting opportunities for pastoralist communities.
Together, we achieve more.

Ever wondered why Somalia’s flag has a five-pointed star? 🇸🇴
The white star symbolizes the dream of SomaliWeyn (Greater Somalia) a vision that sought to unite the five regions historically inhabited by Somalis. They include present-day Somalia 🇸🇴, the Somali Region of Ethiopia 🇪🇹, the Northern Frontier District (NFD) of Kenya 🇰🇪, French Somaliland (present-day Djibouti 🇩🇯), and British Somaliland present day Somaliland.
The inclusion of Kenya’s NFD contributed to the Shifta War (1963–1967). Although a British-commissioned inquiry found that a large majority of people in the NFD favored joining Somalia, Kenya maintained the region as part of its territory and did not allow it to secede.
Here’s a short explainer. #HistoryOfTheNorth #TellingOurStoriesOurWay
“Wajir South is today approximately 22,000 square kilometres, making it the second largest constituencies in Kenya after North-Horr.Historical boundary changes over the years have significantly reduced its size, underscoring the importance of securing community land rights through registration and effective local governance.
We must secure our land rights, govern our resources, and manage our affairs as communities. I believe the Community Land Act is God-sent. It gives communities the opportunity to protect their land, safeguard their livelihoods, and secure the future of generations to come.”
Hon. Mohamed Adow, MP -Wajir South

From the Kenya-Somalia border to the Kenya-Ethiopia border, from Liboi to Ileret, and from Malkamari to Maikona, every great story begins with a dedicated team, countless hours of preparation, and equipment working around the clock. At PNTV Africa we are building a platform that tells our stories, amplifies our voices, and showcases the realities of our communities. This is what happens behind the scenes.

This weekend, we revisit the life and legacy of the late Ahmed Khalif, Kenya’s shortest-serving minister, but one of Northern Kenya’s most influential political figures. What made him different? From the new stadium that now bears his name to the stories of those who knew him best. His younger brother reflects on the life and legacy of a leader remembered for putting his people first. #PNTVAfrica #TellingOurStoriesOurWay
Did you know that livestock contributes about 12% of Kenya’s GDP and over 40% of Kenya’s agricultural output, making it a backbone of livelihoods for millions of Kenyans?
In Isiolo, Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Samburu, and Marsabit counties, camels support a thriving market both locally and in Nairobi. One of the most popular camel products is Nyiri Nyiri, known in Somali as Qoodhka Geela (dried camel meat).
Here is how a camel is transformed into Nyiri Nyiri (Odkac ).

“Initially, people in Wajir looked like people who were engaged in a gear we used to walk with our backs forward because we were used to heavy sand on our roads. Things are now changing”.

This Madaraka Day is a proud moment for the wider NEP region.
This is Garissa Town the former HQ of North Eastern. Vibrant, busy, and commercially active beyond what many imagine.Northern Kenya has been growing, evolving, and contributing to the country in ways often overlooked.
Wajir from the Sky! @PNTVAfrica
There’s movement everywhere, people, cars, a town that’s clearly alive & growing.
And one thing stands out immediately… the roads are wide,Spacious & Open. You can actually see the town breathe.
This is a different side of Northern Kenya.
Have you ever been to the Kenya–Somalia border? Here is your chance to see the border!
The Kenya–Somalia border stretches for about 680km and borders the counties of Mandera, Wajir, and Garissa. Yet for many people, it has mainly been defined by headlines about insecurity.
Northern Kenya is not all dry land and desert. Hidden within its vast landscapes are rivers, wetlands, grazing plains, and ecosystems that have sustained communities for generations.
In this special @PNTVAfrica Madaraka feature, we follow the journey of the Ewaso Nyiro River
