But 𝐃𝐈𝐃 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖 about the first national election in the Philippines? It took place on September 17, 1935, and was a historic moment as Filipinos voted for the President and Vice President of the Commonwealth of the Philippines.

𝐎𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 21, 1972, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐍𝐨. 1081 marked the declaration of Martial Law in the Philippines by President Ferdinand Marcos.

Today, we remember 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐟𝐚 𝐋𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐄𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐝𝐚, a fearless 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭 and founder of the 𝐆𝐢���𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬. She fought for women’s rights, risked her life helping prisoners during World War II, and left a legacy
