@plthomasEdD The connection between advocacy and publishing sales should give everyone pause. I’d love to assume best intentions from all, but historical evidence doesn’t support that. Long time teachers are “sold a story”, every few years.

Lots of research shows isolated grammar lessons/exercises (worksheets, textbooks) do NOT transfer to original student writing

Direct grammar lessons in the context of student writing, however, does transfer to later writing

NO ONE is against teaching grammar ...

Some against ISOLATED memorization for memorization's sake

Memorization best (long-term, applicable) when in the context of authentic behaviors, often comes AFTER not before that engagement
