@deejuusan I wanted to add, if a series is usually fast paced, it will attract a readership that isn't always accustomed to spending time on splash pages as much. Not as a rule, but i do think we as readers gravitate towards the average of the pace of a work. I know I'm that way about film.
@deejuusan Works of Geof Darrow, Moebius, Akhito Yoshitomi or even Miyazaki, i think it attracts quite a number of us who spend a lot of time pouring over panels like these. For slower dense styles there is always an audience, but we are a smaller, less vocal bunch. and we read slower lol
@DailySquibs The music video for SchoolboyQ's song Dangerous is an exact copy of the 15th killing in Elephant, but for some reason it feels extremely weird having cool music play over a murder that is sorta meant to be portrayed as quiet, mundane and horrible.
@menn0615 Lol It was my social nightmare, I ended up interrupting so many people's conversations yesterday. The Portugese in particular were like "oh! where did this kid come from?!". I felt like I had accidentally broken into someone's house while they were eating dinner.
Texture comic doodles. You ever get surprised by the change in your tastes? When I was a kid I really disliked the low res, photocopier burned, blown out scans of comics and zines and now that's all i ever emulate lol

@Sydnus83 it's silly to bring up, but i'm reminded of Werner Herzog's ecstatic truth, that exaggeration and fabrication are essential to get closer to the real, actual feeling of something. The fov isn't the "accountant's reality" but feels much closer to the real relationships of scale.
@SirHoopsalotArt The character freeze and camera pan transitions trigger my panic flight response like anticipating a boss battle or visiting my extended family LOL
As I get older I start to feel myself getting more confused, more dulled and sometimes not knowing where I am. When I say these names they're like magic spells, filled with sense memory, and I feel the fog being pushed back from the garden. Parking Garage. Rooftop. Steinbeck.
John Woo, Tarkovsky and Kitano in the middle. Borges and Fellini, Sachin Teng and Andrew Hem. Etam Cru. There's an arcade in my head where all the art I love lives and the chief trait, the common through line between that which nourishes my heart and my mind is their generosity.
@billyjarrettugh I'm actually 100,000 percent alright with us never doing stunts like this again. My entertainment dollar is not that important LOL you ragdoll a dummy off a bridge i'll be just fine with that.
I have this artist bookmarked as inspiration because i regularly need a reminder that color variation and saturation can be pushed to the knife's edge limit guided by good taste, and the literal 'mantra' ive created for it is "push the colors until you can taste them".
