This Expedition Cruise Line's Latest Sale Has BOGO Trips to the Galapagos
HX, formerly known as Hurtigruten, also has up to 40% off of adventure sailings to Alaska and Antarctica.
Expedition cruise line HX, formerly known as Hurtigruten, is making it easier to explore hard-to-reach destinations with a sale that has BOGO trips to the Galapagos along with big savings on other adventure itineraries.
As part of its “Explore the Extraordinary” sale, the cruise line is offering buy-one-get-one savings on trips to the Galapagos Islands for travelers who book by March 31, HX shared with Travel + Leisure. The offer applies to all Galapagos itineraries on the cruise line’s MS Santa Cruz II ship departing from April 27 to Sept. 25.
To take advantage, travelers must pay the first cruise fare at full price.
Trips to the Galapagos with the company include local flights, a pre-cruise hotel, the Galápagos Islands National Park admission fee, excursions, and use of the ship’s science center complete with a library, microscopes, and samples.
In addition, Hurtigruten is offering up to 40 percent off all cruises through 2025, including to sought-after destinations like Alaska, Antarctica, and Greenland.
Travelers can save big on a 12-day cruise to Antarctica where they can spot an abundance of penguins, whales, and other wildlife set amongst a breathtaking icy landscape, or sign up for a 19-day journey across the Northwest Passage from Reykjavík to Cambridge Bay in Canada.
Travelers who book with HX are led by expedition teams and have access to onboard scientists for a unique perspective on the destinations they visit. The journeys also feature regionally-inspired and locally-sourced meals, and are all-inclusive with complimentary beer and wine at meals, free Wi-Fi, an included activity in every port, and included gratuities.
Beyond its expedition itineraries, Hurtigruten is known for the Norwegian Coastal Express route, which the company has been sailing since 1893. Last year, the cruise line relaunched service on its Svalbard Express route, connecting Bergen, Norway, with the high Arctic archipelago of Svalbard on the refurbished Trollfjord ship.
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming
Midway Geyser Basin
The Midway Geyser Basin in Yellowstone National Park, while not home to the famous Old Faithful Geyser, is still arguably Yellowstone’s best area to explore, particularly for photographers. One reviewer states: “This is a must-see location within the park. The area is simply beautiful and very unique. The colors are truly magnificent.” Due to those stunning colors, the Midway Geyser Basin is one of the most photographed walks in Yellowstone. It includes the Grand Prismatic Spring, the Excelsior Geyser, plus the Turquoise Pool and the Opal Pool. This tour is a good way to experience all these sites and more—led by an expert guide, you’ll be able to see several impressive geysers, along with the natural beauty of canyons, cascades and more.

Cathedral of St. Helena
An awe-inspiring collection of artwork can be found in the German-made stained glass windows of the Cathedral of St. Helena, a Gothic-inspired structure with distinctive twin spires and a pipe organ. This must-see landmark gathers high praise from TripAdvisor reviewers for the beauty of the church and the sense of serenity within. Elsewhere in the city, there’s a museum of art, Reader’s Alley (a restored miners’ village complete with restaurant and shops), and the Gates of the Mountains wilderness area.
This California-cool Hotel Group Just Launched a Luxury Catamaran in the Caribbean
Now available for private charters, the luxury Nomada at Sea catamaran is sailing the British Virgin Islands.
Boutique hotel group Nomada is dipping its toes into the Caribbean Sea.
It's a big year of expansion for the Central California–based hospitality company, which currently operates three hotels with three more opening this year. But its most impressive new project is Nomada at Sea, a yacht-like catamaran now available for private charters in the British Virgin Islands
"Nomada is about exploration and travel. Nothing says that more than an adventure at sea," Kimberly Walker, founder and managing partner of Nomada Hotel Group, said in a statement released to Travel + Leisure. "We set sail every year exploring a new area by catamaran and wanted to share that unique experience with our Nomada guests because we know they will love it, too."
The boat is a luxurious 65-foot vessel with a capacity for up to 10 guests across five en-suite cabins. The design, spearheaded by Walker herself, riffs on the classic California-cool look found across Nomada's hotels. The look is bright and airy with plenty of pastels and punchy patterns. And, of course, all the finishes are high-end — with Pierre Frey upholstery, Matouk linens, and Janus et Cie furnishings.
As Nomada at Sea is a private charter, you'll get to set your itinerary with your captain, whether you want to scuba dive the wreck of the RMS Rhone off Salt Island or explore the unique geological formations of the Baths on Virgin Gorda. And if you want to simply spend the day at sea, enjoying all your included meals and beverages, swimming in the ocean, or fishing, well, you can do just that, too.
Nomada at Sea is officially open for bookings; weekly rates start at $43,000 for six guests and at $53,000 for 10 guests, but the final price depends on the specifics of your trip. You can book here.
Celebrities Love Mustique for its Stunning Beaches and Private Villas — and You Can Go There Too
Here's how to plan the perfect trip to Mustique, including when to visit and where to stay.
Visitors largely come from the U.K., but the island has been drawing more U.S. and Canadian travelers. Those who enjoy Mustique most tend to prefer an understated atmosphere and thrive on life's simple pleasures. Although there's a general understanding that everyone staying on the island has plenty of disposable income — especially since nightly rates at the island's only hotel range from about $600 to over $1,000 — Mustique is not where they come to flaunt it.
In fact, it's the opposite — an escape where phones are down, cameras are off, and hair and clothes are not expected to be pristine, as guests mostly drive in open-air vehicles called "mules" and frolic between the sea and the beach bar. From the dress code to the restaurants to the design aesthetic, everything is a bit pared down — chic without having to prove itself. It's not the place for Instagram photo ops or general tourism. This environment, combined with 24/7 security to ensure safety, is perhaps the island's main appeal.
Mustique is the destination where A-list celebrities, entrepreneurs, creatives, top executives, and even royalty come to unplug. Guests can opt for complete privacy, never needing to leave their massive villas, but after seeing the same smiling faces at the restaurant and other community spaces, people quickly become friends and end up hosting one another for dinners and private pool parties. Many return at the same time each year to see the same people and relive that same sense of community.
The Best Time to Visit Mustique
Like most Caribbean islands, peak season for Mustique is December through April, when visitors from Europe and the northern U.S. trade the winter blues for balmy temperatures and sunshine. One event that draws crowds is the annual Blues Festival, which typically happens at the end of January through February at Basil's Bar. June through November is a quieter period since hurricane season can bring heavy — though typically fleeting — rainfall.
How to Get to Mustique
The most common way to get to Mustique is to fly into St. Lucia or Barbados. Once you arrive, a representative from the island will greet you and fast-track you to the Mustique lounge, where you can await your next flight. The island's 18-seater Twin Otter aircraft shuttle passengers to the private island in approximately one hour. The less common, but faster, alternative is to travel directly from St. Vincent either by catamaran or a seven-minute private flight.
Planes are not allowed to land on Mustique after the sun goes down, so plan to arrive at your first destination no later than 3:30 p.m. so you have time to make the transfer. All arrangements can be made by contacting the island's travel concierge at [email protected].
Where to Stay on Mustique
The Cotton House is the only hotel on the island, offering a selection of luxury suites and cottages, a spa, and three dining options serving everything from local fare to international cuisine. The hotel can also arrange water activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, kayaking, and fishing. If it's your first time visiting Mustique, or you're traveling solo, staying here can help you settle into the unique culture of the island. Many visitors and locals congregate at the hotel for regular social events like Friday night's "happy hour-and-a-half" and the weekly beach bonfire barbecue.
Island regulars and large groups often opt to stay at one of the private villas available for rent. There are more than 80 of these lavish properties, and many belong to notable names such as Tommy Hilfiger, who owns the popular Palm Beach villa. Some are designed by world-renowned architects and interior designers like Paolo Piva and David Kleinberg, whose work comes together in the Hummingbird villa.
All villas are staffed with housekeepers, chefs, and butlers to handle everyday needs and desires. Choose from two to nine bedrooms, an assortment of pools, modern European and traditional Caribbean design features, and views of either the Atlantic Ocean or the Caribbean Sea. From some villas, like Paradiso and Les Jolies Eaux, you can enjoy vistas taking in both bodies of water. The latter property was designed for Princess Margaret, who was a regular on the island and even has a beach named after her.
Things to Do on Mustique
Aside from villa-hopping and endless water activities, this idyllic island offers more than you might imagine given its size. Macaroni Beach, Lagoon Beach, and Princess Margaret Beach are among the strands where guests come to sunbathe, swim, partake in water activities, and have group picnics in dedicated huts on the sand.
Basil's Bar has been the meeting point for locals, guests, and boaters since 1976. This casual haunt overlooking Britannia Bay is perfect for lunch, dinner, and cocktails at sunset. For a livelier scene, check out weekly events like Wednesday night's Jump Up featuring live music or Taco and Tequila Thursdays.
If you're feeling sporty, the six-court Mustique Tennis Club is a social hub of the community. Visitors can enjoy complimentary tennis lessons from the resident coach, daily drop-in games, and, during peak season, regular camps and tournaments. The equestrian center offers guests the opportunity to explore the island's hills on horseback, and provides lessons for children and adults at all experience levels.
Lastly, one of the best aspects of the island is that it's so small and safe, you can explore easily on your own with a car or open-air mule vehicle, often complimentary with your accommodations. Drive to any of the destinations mentioned above, or just get lost and stumble on a remote beach, hiking trail, or something new that will make you want to return for more.

Vrbo's Top Vacation Rentals for 2024 Include Homes in Cabo, the Caribbean, and Sedona
Vrbo reveals its top 10 vacation rentals of the year.
While scouring real estate listings for dream homes often feels like an out-of-reach fantasy, renting one as a vacation rental can easily give you a taste of that high life, even for a few days. Just on Vrbo alone, there are two million global listings to scroll through, ranging from beachfront getaways to mountain hideaways. So, the vacation rental booking company honed in on the highlights, announcing its 2024 Vacation Rentals of the Year.
“What stands out to me is the variety in this year’s Vacation Rentals of the Year — from cool places with game rooms for kids to wine caves for grown-ups, at nightly rates ranging from $550 to $3,000,” Jon Gieselman, Expedia Brands' president, said in a statement shared with Travel + Leisure. “This list exemplifies the caliber of private vacation rentals across Vrbo.”
Spread across the country from California to Massachusetts, as well as dipping into the U.S. Virgin Islands and Mexico's Cabo San Lucas, the properties indeed encompass a wide range on the booking platform.
One of the highlights is the Italian-inspired Villa Montebella in California's Sonoma Valley’s Glen Ellen with an onsite vineyard, library, theater room, oversized kitchen, and spa with steam and sauna rooms. The true gem: a wine cave filled with art, a dining space, and a game room.
Also impressive is the Blue Ridge region’s Miracle Creek Retreat in Epworth, Georgia, with spa-like bathrooms, a game room, and an outdoor living area, all overlooking Fightingtown Creek below.
In Sedona, Arizona, the Palatial Paradise Estate is described as a “stunning estate featuring breathtaking views of the iconic red rocks,” complete with outdoor fireplaces and an infinity pool with a waterfall feature.
Over in Big Sky, Montana, the Fire Lookout Towers sits on 60 acres overlooking the Beehive Basin, serving as a “one-of-a-kind cabin retreat” with a gourmet kitchen and floor-to-ceiling fireplace.
Just minutes from downtown Austin is Toro Canyon, which serves as a “tranquil getaway that seamlessly blends modern luxury and comfortable elegance,” including a pool, hot tub, fire pit, and sports court, near a running creek.
For those looking for waterfront homes, there's the Sandy Lakehouse on Baptist Lake in Sand Lake, Michigan, about a half hour from Grand Rapids, that is “decked out with every amenity imaginable,” including an equipped gym, court for basketball and pickleball, and a game room.”
Down in Inlet Beach, Florida, there’s Paradise Found that “really lives up to its name, with a resort-like atmosphere, including three living areas, infinity pool, and cabana.
Over on Lake Monomonac in Winchendon, Massachusetts, there’s Copley’s Lakefront Cottage, described as a “Belgian-style farmhouse” on the Massachusetts-New Hampshire border, with its own private beach and dock.
Finally, for those looking to get off the mainland, Villa Cin Cin in St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands sits outside of Cruz Bay and was custom-built to have identical primary ensuite bedrooms so everyone has the best room in the house.
Meanwhile, down in Cabo San Lucas, Casa Acantilado is an “extraordinary cliffside villa” with “an uninterrupted blend of indoor and outdoor living spaces” with views of the ocean from the pool, sauna, and hot tub.
To come up with these 10 winners, Vrbo looked at thousands of listings taking into consideration guests' reviews and ratings, which all needed to be five-star. These winners all have hosts with premier status and family-friendly amenities — and are among the most popular bookings on the platform.
