CBC called me last night for my input on this story. This is a glaring example of how problematic it can be for teachers use Teachers Pay Teachers for History/Social Studies because materials are not reviewed or audited for equity.

2 framed poems have hung in front hall of my parents' home since 1970. I find myself reciting from both of them these days. 'Of Children' by Gibran & ,' I'm proud to be a Canadian' by unknown. My folks are as conservative as Diefenbaker but they got it. ✌️🇨🇦

@MarcusLuther6 Agreed on S exhaustion but other considerations at play no? Past generations also had your noted pressures. What we didn't have is constant digital inputs impacting sleep & health & Ads encouraging mindless spending of every $ earned at those jobs.

👍 to my most excellent Lower West hallway cohort at Valleyview Secondary. We do this consistently & student behavior is noticeably calmer. We also get to model conversation skills & relationships between Ts as we chat with each other across the hall. We love our Hallway 🤩

One of the best interventions for poor hallway behavior is having every staff member stand in the hall during transitions whilst narrating the expectations. Problem is… depending on the school… some will do it, some won’t. What’s the magical way to get everyone doing this?

For years, as Big EdTech pushed digital tools,Ts kept saying 'Great but we don't have tech infrastructure or supports for Ss for Ts to use these effectively.' Now the efficacy research is here, without those things there is limited learning benefit.

I agree with Sandy. We used to pay for every newspaper and drink coffee at home. . Now we lose our minds over any expectation of paying for any content but pay 6bucks a coffee. #ProfessionalJournalism MATTERS

@patgagnon_75 Bookmarking this thread to share with Gr 12 Economics class. Mostly 16,17 yr old boys with a LOT of opinions, absolute stances, and are being HEAVILY influenced by podcasters. Hearing this from military man will hold weight. Thank you.
