@shiroyagi5 How do you know if you were having issues due to HIGH ESR? I'm currently restoring PC-9801NS/A which turns on, but shows nothing on the screen and not beeping. the 82 uF capacitors I used have < 200 mΩ ESR. I was looking for a broken via or trace all night long, but cant find any

@YSKWYUY In that case it is for insulation. I think that board is related to the LCD contrast voltage. On some models this board is potted in black resin. Here is a photo of mine on PC-9801NS/T

Finally the trickiest part - the screen polarizer. I was lucky that only the front one was damaged so it wasn't a lot of work. I also hesitated a bit between orientation angles, but finally went with the GameBoy green look.

Last weekend project a PC-9801NS/T with the usual issues broken hinge, vinegar screen and leaky caps.

Designed a 3d printed hinge fix which allows the usage of the original heat inserts and bolts. Its 2 parts so the top part presses against the hdd enclosure plastic and prevents the mount from breaking again.

@YSKWYUY I actually repaired PC-9801NS/T last week and don't remember seeing that piece of copper foil in it. I just made a post about it, so you can check the photos if you think they can help.

@YSKWYUY Is yours conductive on the inner side? if it is then is for grounding, if not - isolation. Judging by the staining yours came of a part of the board where you had either battery or capacitor leak.
