Can someone explain why waltzes specifically always need to be mixed with another style in short/rhythm dances? Even if it’s classical the tangos, sambas, quicksteps, etc. always feel out of place… is there a history from ballroom dance I’m missing?
I've had people telling me since elementary school that prioritizing sport would mean neglecting my academics, and vice versa.
I think I've proven them wrong! This year, I became a 2x Olympian AND a @McMasterU grad.
2026 has been busy, but also a year I am SO proud of!🇨🇦🦅
The perfect combination of two great skaters who have performed La La Land programs 😍 Kazuki Tomono and Yuna Aoki skate to the movie musical together at Fantasy on Ice 💙
@sfxMel Fair but personally I think figure skating has changed so much that it doesn’t even feel like the same sport at times so they’re like GOATs of different sports
GOAT itself implies only one person can hold the title (per discipline) so these lists of 10+ are unserious BUT I think fs as a sport changes so drastically over time (a rant for another day) that you can legitimately have multiple goats for different eras ie Michelle and Yuna
Charlotte spin! I’m tempted to try this to see if it’s possible… maybe off an A-frame? Off a camel seems obvious but somehow I think it’d be easier off a pancake or turtle??? Someone needs to do this for their choreo spin please!
I’ve been thinking this! I wish they would’ve replaced one of the spins with a levelled spin in one position. I think it would capture what they’re trying to do with a choreo spin but without all the nonsense that’s come with choreo elements thus far
I don't know how I feel about choreo spins, I think they need to bring back spins in one position. Like a long, fast and centered camel spin. No changes, no variations, just a gorgeous spin
Someone tell me Lily and Nathan is an April Fools joke. Three days ago Canadian ice dance was looking so promising for next quad and now filling three worlds spots isn’t guaranteed.
