His father walked out just before Christmas and never came back.
Jackie Gleason was nine years old, living in a cold Brooklyn tenement on Chauncey Street, when Herbert Gleason collected his paycheck, burned every photo of himself in the house, and disappeared forever.
Jackie’s older brother had already died. His mother Mae took a job in a subway change booth and raised him alone in grinding poverty.
By nineteen she was gone too. Jackie had 36 cents in his pocket.
He hit the streets, hustled pool, worked the rough clubs, and refused to go home until he made it.
Years later that same kid from Brooklyn became “The Great One.” He gave America Ralph Kramden — the loud, big-hearted bus driver who lived at the exact same address Jackie once did — and turned working-class struggle into comedy gold that still hits home decades later.
“How sweet it is!” wasn’t just a catchphrase. It was the sound of a kid who started with almost nothing and still found a way to laugh.
If this one landed, drop a 🚌 or tag someone who still quotes The Honeymooners.

🚨 WOW! A liberal Miami-Dade judge who tried BLOCKING Donald Trump's Presidential Library was just UNSEATED by conservative Destiny Alvarez, 30, in last night's election
Florida FAFO 🔥🔥
Sitting Judge Mavel Ruiz STONEWALLED the land transfer for Trump's library construction from Miami Dade College.
She was eventually forced to lift it. Now she's going to be replaced by Destiny Alvarez
LFG 👏🏻
a reação do cachorro ao não enxergar mais sua dona e achar que foi abandonado só faz a gente pensar em quantos animais passam por isso de verdade todos os dias
🚨 WNBA DOUBLE STANDARD ON FULL DISPLAY
A mother and daughter paid $1,000 for courtside seats at a Fever game.
They wore simple XX / XY t-shirts supporting Sophie Cunningham and fairness in women’s sports.
Security told them to cover the shirts or risk being ejected because “someone was offended.”
Meanwhile, a pro-trans t-shirt was featured on the jumbotron during the same game.
Players also sat for the national anthem and the team honored Stacey Abrams.
Message received loud and clear.
Angel Reese blatantly smacks Mitchell in the face, refs call a foul — so Reese throws a fit wanting a challenge because they have allowed her to hit people in the face her whole career. Terrible person.
In Seattle a few weeks ago, a co-owner of the Storm cursed at two teenagers wearing @xx_xyathletics tees.
In Minneapolis, @Riley_Gaines_ was told to take her sign down. She and I were court side wearing XX-XY Athletics tees.
Yesterday in Atlanta, a mom was told she had to cover up her XX-XY Athletics tee or leave.
The more the WNBA, the stadiums and the teams try to censor the story of the groundswell of support for the protection of women's sports, the bigger it gets.
When will they learn?
Javier Assad should demand a trade before the lockout. To be as good as he’s been and to have done everything that’s been asked of him only to get this treatment is asinine #cubs
Hey @AtlantaDream & @StateFarmArena,
Why was this woman not told to cover-up her “Trans Kids Belong” t-shirt like the mom & daughter were told with their @xx_xyathletics shirts?
Seems like a double standard to me…
🇺🇸 A 9-year-old girl at an elementary school in Massachusetts was in the bathroom when a boy peeked under the stall and then PUSHED his way in!
The school’s response? They told her to use a different bathroom.
She was humiliated, scared, and felt completely violated.
The Admin minimized it, lectured the 9-year-old about policies without her parents, and suggested she use the single stall
She’s now being called a tattletale, going home sick, not eating, stressed every morning.
Her dad’s demanding a full investigation.

🚨 THIS GUY JUST EXPOSED MCDONALD’S — PEOPLE FINALLY UNDERSTAND WHY THE CEO LOOKED TERRIFIED
A man has been documenting McDonald’s burgers for over a year and the results are hard to ignore.
His 515-day-old cheeseburger still looks almost the same. The receipt he kept with it fell apart faster than the burger itself. A 119-day-old Quarter Pounder is so hard he says he’ll need a crowbar to pull it apart. Even a 25-day-old McChicken shows almost no real decay on the patty.
He finally tried to take a bite of a 100-day-old burger on camera. It was so rock hard he could only get the bun. He spit it out and called it disgusting.
People are now connecting it to the moment the McDonald’s CEO forced himself to eat one of their burgers on camera and looked visibly uncomfortable.
What exactly are they putting in this food that refuses to rot… and why did the CEO look so scared to eat his own product?
A few days before training camp, Tyson Bagent hit me with this.
"If I'm the backup this year again, I just want to help us win a Super Bowl. Whatever the hell that looks like. If I just need to execute my ass off on scout team, whatever … I'm willing. I'm just in a position where I'm so willing to play whatever role I need to, in order to help the squad and to get better at football."
