Just my personal take: A lot of people today always say the theme of the Silent Hill series is trauma, guilt, etc. I dug up some old interviews from the original era, and I get the feeling that maybe some of the later dev teams misunderstood the core intent 1/3
@pluszhiheng@Aw35omeYahya 3/3) ~ I kept thinking, "Seriously?", tho. We only had abt a month to build & finish the story for SH3, so we didn’t have any time to polish it. It’s true that, given that extremely short timeframe, we had no other option besides Harry’s death to provide a motive for Heather.
@pluszhiheng@Aw35omeYahya 2/3) ~ for SH3, I suspect sales were lower than those of SH1. Since SH2 didn't sell well initially, our boss wanted to turn SH3 into a combat game. At the time, Devil May Cry was doing really well, so we were told over and over again to make SH3 more like Devil May Cry, (cont)
@adsk4@Aw35omeYahya 伊藤先生, I'd like to ask you a question. You once mentioned that SH2's sales performance wasn't great. Was the main criticism that it was not a direct sequel to SH1,i am very curious,How did SH3 sell/review? by the way Many china fans think Harry's death was too rushed.
In the mid-2000s, it was rumored that Team Silent's fifth game would be titled 'Silent Hill 5: Shadows of the Past' focusing on mental hospital patients. This was debunked by developers Masashi Tsuboyama and Akihiro Imamura, who revealed the next game to be about daylight horror.
@RENews_X This statement is really strange. As far as I know, Capcom explicitly stated at their latest exhibition that the first installment has already been remake
@dyinlevi@01_IDK_01 Konami offered a possibility: that Heather didn't actually vomit out the fetus, and it was all just her imagination (though Mr. Ito did indeed state that she vomited it out).
The writer said:The theme is 'love'. Sounds laughable, but it's the common thread of the series. SH1 is a father's love vs. a mother's lack of it. SH2 is the madness of a man who lost his beloved wife. SH3? Play the game to find out its specific form. 2/3
