Inspected Kwa Kitoi Dam in Matungulu East Ward, a vital water project benefiting over 800 households with reliable water for domestic use, irrigation, and livestock.

Before the next rainy season, we will expand the dam and implement a water reticulation project to increase storage capacity and extend water access to more residents.

I remain committed to investing in sustainable water infrastructure that strengthens food security, improves livelihoods, and drives socio-economic growth across Machakos County.

The Tala Ward development tour concluded with a public engagement at Tala Township, where I engaged residents on the progress of development projects and listened to their priorities for the future.

For more than four decades, Maluva Dam remained largely underutilized. Today, following its rehabilitation, it is transforming livelihoods by supporting fruit cultivation, creating employment opportunities, and boosting household incomes across the area.

My development tour of Kyeleni Ward culminated in a public baraza at Kyeleni Market, where I engaged residents on the progress of ongoing projects and received valuable feedback on the development needs of the area.

The engagement highlighted the importance of working hand in hand with our people to deliver practical, people-centred development that responds directly to their needs.

I sincerely thank the people of Kyeleni for the warm reception and for their active participation in the discussions.

Surface water harvesting is key to strengthening food security, supporting climate resilience, and unlocking agricultural potential.

Kyeleni Earth Dam is now fully restored after the desilting works. Today, the dam is providing water for irrigation, livestock and domestic use, while supporting fish farming and the cultivation of high-value crops including pyrethrum.

We will deliver on our vision of "Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni."!

I am delighted to witness the transformation of maternal and child healthcare at Kangundo Level 4 Hospital through this expanded Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health Unit.

This modern facility is designed to provide safe deliveries, timely emergency obstetric services, specialised newborn care, and quality postnatal support in a well-equipped and dignified environment.

It is an important investment that will improve health outcomes for mothers and children while easing access to essential healthcare services for families in Kangundo and the surrounding communities.
