a project of @Progressive_MD // building tenant power around Maryland by organizing tenant unions // Enclave Tenant Association, Huntington Tenant Association…
Our ETA leaders have fought tirelessly to get the Tenant Safety Act & Good Cause Eviction passed! We need TSA to fight back & hold our corrupt landlords accountable AND we need Good Cause so that we are protected from retaliation when we do. LFG @MDSenate@SenBillFerg
The @EnclaveTenants have taken the fight to Annapolis! 🔥
I and the County have struggled to make Enclave Apts address serious issues for years, and tenants have faced retaliation. We need state help!
Thank you @Willcsmithjr — let’s get a clean Good Cause on a voting list!
This week, I presented Good Cause Eviction (HB 477) to the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee. We’re running out of time - let’s get Good Cause done!
Urging the committee to move favorable and bring to the Senate floor!
Ms. Tonia Chestnut, External Affairs Chair of @EnclaveTenants shares with the cmt the terrible conditions her and her neighbors at the Enclave and many other aprt complexes face due to landlord neglect. Senator @Willcsmithjr, having visited these aprts tells the cmt it’s all true
Our very own External Affairs Chair, Tonia M Chestnut, testified on the witness panel to support the Tenant Safety Act! Thank you @Willcsmithjr for your words of support and we look forward to getting this bill across the finish line with you!
We are joining tenants from Prince George’s County in Annapolis in support of two important bills protecting safe, stable and affordable housing. HB 477 and HB 1117 have passed the House of Delegates and are under consideration in the Senate today.
On Friday, we met with @Willcsmithjr to discuss conditions at the Enclave and passing Just Cause Eviction and the Tenant Safety Act! Thank you for committing to get these bills across the finish line- our lives depend on it!
update: in RETALIATION for organizing & fighting for LIVABLE CONDITIONS Enclave Management (Hampshire Properties + Rose Valley Management) has locked ALL TENANTS out of accessing common spaces including the mailroom, computer lab, & a common room that is used as a prayer space.
Despite POURING rain, we turned out in big numbers because ENOUGH is ENOUGH! We demand that Hampshire Properties & Beach Hill Capital MEET OUR DEMANDS & that major tenant protections be passed at all levels of gov’t!
