I want to ask the students screaming "Death to America", do you have any idea what happens when American values die?

Because I do.

My family fled Iran, a country where freedom died. You don't know what you have until it's gone.

You think America is oppressive because you have never experienced real oppression.

You think silence is violence because you've never been silenced.

You think words are dangerous because you have never watched a government drag someone away for speaking them.

You think capitalism is evil because you have never stood in a bread line.

You think borders are immoral because you have never had to flee across one.

You think revolution is romantic because you have never had a revolution take everything from you.

I have.

And that's why I refuse to be quiet.

Al Sharpton and other activists are telling Black Americans and Black-owned businesses to boycott America’s 250th birthday.

My response: You do not speak for me.

You do not get to use my skin color to tell me what I can celebrate. I was not a slave. You were not a slave. We are free Americans, and I refuse to walk around pretending we are still in chains.

Yes, I proudly put George Washington on my America 250 Cousin T’s pancake box. He owned slaves, but that is not his entire legacy. He was also our first president and helped build the nation that gave people like me the freedom to rise.

I went from foster care to building Cousin T’s, a successful Black-owned American company. I am living the American Dream.

So while Al Sharpton is calling for a boycott, I am calling for Black Americans to stop letting professional outrage merchants convince us that patriotism belongs only to white people.

America is my country too.

I will celebrate her loudly, proudly, and without permission.

America’s 250th birthday is not a Republican celebration.

It’s not a Democrat celebration.

It’s America’s celebration.

So if your state is refusing to participate, the question isn’t political… it’s simple:

Why wouldn’t you celebrate the greatest country in the history of the world?

This is one anniversary that should unite us, NOT divide us.

Put the politics away.
Celebrate the flag.
Celebrate our history.

Celebrate the heroes who built, defended, and preserved this Republic.

America turns 250 only once.

My name is Ella, I'm 17 years old.
I do long jump. I play volleyball. I go to school in New Richmond, Wisconsin.
When my school allowed a biological male into the girls' restroom without telling parents —
I went to the school board.
With my name attached.
In my own town.
I got bullied for it. Harassed online. Even some of my own teachers came after me.
I'm still here.
Because here's what I know:
The net in women's volleyball is set nearly a foot lower for a reason.
A biological male can hit a ball across that net at force that could seriously injure a girl.
And in track — all it takes is three biological males entering the girls' category
and not a single girl in this state stands on a podium.
I didn't speak up because it was easy.
I spoke up because somebody had to.
The Supreme Court is about to answer the question every girl in America is asking.
We're ready.
