A major success: The community responded with incredible enthusiasm, resulting in every resident planting a tree in their own home! 🌳✨

🌿 Promoting Community Health in Puntland

PMWDO, with support from @unicefsomalia strengthened access to quality health services through community health initiatives.

As part of the project, community health workers reached households and participated in training sessions that improved health awareness, hygiene practices, and early disease prevention.

At PMWDO, we continue to champion access to primary health care, including HIV/AIDS awareness and education, particularly among women, youth, and minority groups who often face barriers to information and services. PMWDO continues strengthening community-driven approaches to end FGM and child marriage across Puntland.
This quarter, 500 adolescents (250 girls, 250 boys) begun their 10-week CHOICES sessions, supported by 40 trained facilitators and sensitization activities across 19 locations.
The CHOICES model empowers young people with skills in gender equality, rights awareness, and positive social norms.This community-centered approach is shifting perspectives — and helping communities protect girls and boys from harmful practices. - with @save_children and @noradno

In partnership with @SaveChildrenSO , @noradno , and the Government of Puntland, we have recently a conducted a Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) training for selected women groups.

The training, implemented using the EASE model, brought together women from Suwayto, Laanta-Hawada, Biyo-Kulule, New Bossaso, Iskushuban, Celdahir, and Kobhdaxad to build their financial literacy and collective saving skills. Through VSLAs, women are empowered to save, access small loans, and invest in income-generating activities that strengthen their resilience and independence.

Clean water is life. Yet for too many families in Somalia, safe drinking water remains out of reach—forcing children and mothers to walk long distances and often rely on unsafe sources that carry the risk of disease.

We are worked with communities in Galkacyo and Jariban to change this reality. Through our WASH interventions, we rehabilitated wells, installed handpumps, and supported hygiene promotion, ensuring that families can drink, cook, and wash with safe water every day.
At PMWDO, we believe access to clean water is a human right—not a privilege. With the support of our partners, we are committed to reaching more families, one safe drop at a time. 💙
